DIY Project Parade and Highlights – Part 2

DIY Show Off

Hello, DIY friends! There are so many amazing links each week. I’m trying to figure out how to include the highlights (please bear with me). I think some weeks, a few different Highlight posts throughout the week will be a great idea to get your creativity and inspiration noticed even more! This week, the features are random but I think starting next week, I’ll categorize the highlights. Thanks for your patience!

See Highlights Part 1 and check out these awesome DIY projects you may have missed last week:

One area that is really neglected in our home this year is the porch. With a summer passing by as we renovate the apartment, I’m longing to relax on this beautiful southern porch over at Dixie Delights. Dreamy!

Couldn’t you just run to the next yard sale to see if you can find something this amazing? I love Amy’s {Blissful Bee} vision and the before/after transformation is stunning. What a beautiful settee makeover!

I love that Miss Charming painted the wood on her chairs and the impact was instant updating and WOW! They look fabulous with her new chalkboard wall and pretty white frames. See more at Charming Zebra.

An organized and pretty welcoming entryway is something I’ve always longed for. Jenn at Clean and Scentsible shares her inspiring tips and beautiful styling:

I love old windows. We have a few more around here somewhere and this idea from Number Fifty Three is a great way to create wall old window wall art.

DIY Show Off – Mudroom/Back Entry Way Makeover

My Mudroom/Back Entry Way:
Niski welcomes you to our home. {We lost our sweet doxie girl 12/10.}
Entryway to the back yard before we bought the house with single door and blue carpeting (standing in dining room).

We decided to repurpose this mirror that was hanging over the fireplace when we purchased our home (picture of living room before we bought the house). Remove very carefully. Luckily ours was only held in place by brackets. No glue.
This is the room that I decorate (and I’m not exaggerating) at least once of month, sometimes more.
Ready for summer:

Then it looked like this for a while:
Then a holding room for the wingbacks…

Roomspiration – Laundry Rooms and Mudrooms

Roomspiration Blog Hop
Join in the Roomspiration by adding your own laundry room or mud room by linking up today with Elizabeth from The Mustard Ceiling and her gorgeous stenciled laundry room.
The Mustard Ceiling

I was getting all ready to do a post full of Pinterest inspiration but I think I’d rather keep it real today and show you our own home.  No! Not the laundry room. We hold the record for blogger’s ugliest laundry room ever so we’ll just keep that a secret until there is a makeover to show off.
We have an area we call the “mud room” but it’s not really since no one really enters through these doors. What would you make this space? I think I’ll be looking for some seating to go in here…it’s sunny in the mornings.

When we moved in, it looked like this:

It’s off the dining room. We tore out that single door and installed a set of French doors…
We added a coat/shoe closet to an area that sat back beside the basement steps.
Mr. DIY installed slate tile. Isn’t it pretty?!
We recycled and framed a huge frameless mirror that came with our home…
and here are some pictures of how it’s looked over the last couple of years. I love to rearrange this area!

Then this…
Here it was last Christmas…
The orange chairs from the bedroom makeover (here) even sat in this ‘mud room’ while waiting for their debut in the guest room.
Come back tomorrow when I show you how it looks for fall. The DIY Fall Festival will start one day early this week (Thursday) due to the Roomspiration schedule and hosting Roomspiration-Kitchen Edition Friday!).

Here’s the schedule for Roomspiraton. Hope to see you over at The Mustard Ceiling today!
