Essential Oil Lotion Hearts

It’s the second month of the Embracing Wellness Series and giveaway – several blog friends sharing their favorite Young Living essential oils and hosting an awesome giveaway as our way of wanting to help spread the oily love. Woo hoo! More details below. *This post contains some affiliate links of what I purchased on Amazon, enough supplies for several different DIY/handmade recipes.

These essential oil lotion hearts are not only a great gift idea, they’re super handy for dry skin. Winter and extra-handwashing have made my hands super dry. I love having these on display/ready to grab near the soap on our bathroom sinks and in my purse for a quick grab. Not to mention a cute gift, great {essential oil} business incentive or prize at essential oil classes/events.

Ingredients I used:

*I chose Valor for the one I keep in my purse. I like the benefits for easing occasional feelings of anxiety on top of soothing dry skin on the go. I also like Joy, Peace & Calming, Lavender and Sacred Mountain. One of the bonuses to DIY! YOU choose the essential oil you prefer.

Valor: Valor® is an empowering combination of therapeutic-grade essential oils that works with both the physical and spiritual aspects of the body to increase feelings of strength, courage, and self-esteem in the face of adversity. Renowned for its strengthening qualities, Valor enhances an individual’s internal resources. It has also been found to help energy alignment in the body.

What I did:

I simply added the shea butter, beeswax and coconut oil into a double boiler (I bought this double boiler) and melted it together over medium-high heat.

Once completely melted and blended, remove from heat and mix in essential oil. You’ll need to move through the next step rather quickly (but you can always reheat to liquify if needed).

I poured my mixture into a glass measuring cup to make pouring the mixture into silicone heart molds easier.

I let them cool. It doesn’t take long. I waited a few hours just to be sure they were completely cool and formed.

Then I removed the hearts from the silicone mold. They pop out easily! Wrap for gifts or display in small labeled dish on the bathroom sink.

Lavender Essential Oil

Happy day!

embracing wellness blog hop #oilyfamilies

First, let me tell you a little about one of my current favorite essential oils. (Although for real, there really is no such thing as ONE favorite…they all have so many amazing benefits. It’s the entire Young Living essential oils line that has been life changing for our family.) But, today I’m sharing about Lavender essential oil: Lavender’s sweet, floral aroma and stress-relieving properties make it a versatile and beneficial addition to your daily routine. Lavender has so many amazing uses! Here are just a few quick ways we’ve been using lavender essential oil lately…

Lavender is also good for supporting normal healing and soothing minor skin discomfort.

Grandbaby boy’s head has the occasional flaky, scaly and crusty look to it. I know it’s normal and it goes away on it’s own but it sure doesn’t look pretty. I added 2-3 drops of lavender essential Oil (I only trust Young Living brand) to a 10 ml roller bottle then filled it the rest of the way up (dilute essential oil for infants) with a carrier oil (Young Living’s V6). All my daughter had to do was roll it onto his head and gently massage his scalp every once in a while (a few times a day for a few days/do it at a few diaper changes during the day in order to remember) and look at his beautiful scalp now:

Freshening laundry: I add a drop or two to each wool dryer ball for lavender scented fresh laundry and linens.

How about freshening up bed linens between washes? Yes, perfect for that too. Smells nice AND it promotes rest, relaxation and helps with occasional sleeplessness. I used lavender essential oil for those reasons but you can choose the essential oil you’d like to add.

Holiday Gift Guide for Essential Oil Lovers

If you love and use essential oils every day here are some great gift ideas (besides essential oils, of course) to add to your holiday wish list or gift suggestions for oily friends. These are things I already own or things that are on my own wish list. This post contains some affiliate links.

essential oilers gift ideas @diyshowoff

  • Diffuser – essential oil fans will move one diffuser from room to room so having a second on hand is super convenient, a luxury even!
  • Mortar & Pestle – for use with fresh herbs or infusing essential oils and sugar or salt, recipes, etc.
  • Serving Tray – I love having this tray on hand for creating essential oil recipes and containing spills. It’s sort of like having a portable laboratory and protects furniture and/or tablecloths, etc.

  • We’ve switched from using dryer sheets to these cool Wool Dryer Balls. I love that I can add different scents when drying clothes (Lavender, Purification and Peace & Calming are my favorites).
  • AromaGlide Roller Fitments – I love adding a roller ball lid to several of my essential oil bottles, especially ones I apply topically like DiGize, EndoFlex, Dragon Time, Valerian, etc.
  • Acrylic Display – keeps essential oils organized and all within easy reach. I alphabetize mine. This display holds about 60 bottles.
  • Stainless Steel Tumbler – a must have (personalize with vinyl). Several of my family members are never without their tumbler. Keeps drinks ice cold all day long (hot too)…if your drink would last that long and works great with citrus essential oils.

  • Measuring Shot Glasses – is a great gift idea (along with a bottle of Ningxia Red too). Handy for essential oil recipes too.
  • Sample Bottles – sharing essential oils with family and friends is inevitable. Having mini sample bottles on hand makes sharing a drop or two easy!
  • Organic Coconut Oil – so many uses and a favorite oil for diluting essential oils.
  • Dish Pan and Natural Dish Soap – handy for washing/cleaning empty essential oil bottles and natural dish soap is an ingredient for a DIY essential oil/bubble bath recipe.

More: Love this shop for handouts and supplies (it’s where I got my tablecloth too). Get a Gift Card for Business Building. And I’m pretty sure anything from here would be a great gift for essential oil friends too since I know I personally have to downsize my shopping cart every time I place an order.
