Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours – Favorite Room Edition {Kitchen & Pantry}

Following the Blogger Stylin' Home Tours - Favorite Room Edition? ::gasp!:: So fun! So exciting! If you love looking at 'real' and 'beautiful' and 'inspiring' homes then you're going to want to catch up on the series starting with Lindsay at The White Buffalo Styling Co. Have you just popped over from The Chronicles of Home ? Welcome, friends! I'm so happy you're here! Come in, come in! Make yourself at home! Favorite Room Home Tours   It's the next to the last stop of a week long series of beautiful homes. I wish I had some sort of grand finale of "Holy smokes! They saved the best for last!" but our home is really still such a work in progress. And then there was a bonus favorite room added after me so I'm no longer last. But don't you just want to gather all of these pretty rooms to create one big awesome house? That's where I'll live. 😉  My favorite room is almost always the room we most recently completed. Know what I mean? All of the blood, sweat, tears and labor of love, to the finishing touches and I could sit in that room for hours just soaking up the feeling of the reward of a job well done. And well, JUST DONE! Ya know? I am so SO in love with my bathroom, you guys! If you saw the 'before' pictures of what I lived with for so many years, you understand...now it's just the prettiest soothing spa-like room. I'd move my bed or office in there if there was room. BUT anyway, that seems like such an odd room to choose. "Roeshel's favorite room is the bathroom! hahahahahaha!" Ugh.

DIYShowOff Bathroom Makeover before and after

Plan B: I'll go with our open pantry. Again, another odd choice so we'll include the kitchen too since that makes it more like an entire room. Kitchen and pantry. It's all related to cooking & food storage, right? Right! Ready? Let's go! This is sort of what we had to start with (except the bamboo flooring is newer). A strange small room/hallway behind the kitchen that has SIX doorways.  open pantry before Now we utilize this area for extra food storage as well as a place to house our little-used microwave. It sits right next to the kitchen. This is from when we just finished before Christmas last year... open pantry at diyshowoff.com I keep this area organized and pretty with a little decorating and we're slowly adding dried foods to the shelves in pretty glass containers. Canned foods and boxes get stored in baskets and other 'not-so-pretties' behind closed kitchen cabinets. open pantry with pipe shelving farmhouse pantry decor DIYShowOff Pantry Related blog posts:  Our kitchen before screamed 'OUTDATED!' We love that the French doors lead right to the patio where we entertain and dine outdoors in the summer time. It makes serving and clean up a cinch.

Falling for Vintage – Fall Home Tour

It may not feel like fall in your neck of the woods but the shorter days, chilly mornings, garden harvests, cooler evenings all point to autumn's arrival here in western PA which means preparation for the countdown to my hibernation. I'm all set to warm things up with some fall decorating.  Fall is such a blessed time of year and I love being all cozy and comfy and more than any other time of year. Fall decorating helps me with the transition of summer fun to Christmas celebration.

7-Vintage-Fall-House-Tours

Ready for a little touch of vintage in my fall home tour? Let's take a look around! It is early in the season so I have to tell you things will definitely be tweaked and moved around before I'm completely satisfied with it just in time to pack it all away.

Vintage Fall Home Tour at DIYShowOff

Last week, I kicked off the fall decorating season by adding some new accents atop my vintage chicken coop.

and a faux wheat stack with my old globe vignette...

The kitchen is all ready for fall on the top shelf of our open pantry. This pumpkin weighs in at a little over 16 lbs. according to the vintage scale. And a faux fall bouquet in a vintage tin adds more balance.

Our kitchen island consists of an old vintage dresser and the centerpiece is a basket filled with mums, purple cabbages, heather and squash. I added a vintage vice for a rustic touch.

On our dining room table, vintage bottles display dried cotton sticks and feathers. The table runner is simply wrapping paper.

More vintage bottles and a cloche update with decoupaged botanical birds. {Decoupage on Glass Tutorial.}

The mantel in our family room is a bit of a challenge with the colorful curtains but gold, red and aqua including a vintage tea tin and blue mason jar paired with coordinating vases create a fun autumn theme.

Even the guest room whispers "welcome fall"...

And because the days are still nice enough to enjoy fresh fall air, I spruced up the patio daybed with new pillows and some pretty mums...displayed in a vintage something or other I confiscated from the barn.

Not only do I love the warmth that accompanies fall decorating, it's fall scents that set the scene for a warm and cozy home, isn't it? Pumpkins, cinnamon, wood burning, home cooking.

DaisyMaeBelle Home Tour

Today I've invited a friend over to share her home tour. Meet: Melissa from DaisyMaeBelle. I always find her home inspiring, warm and welcoming and I know you will too. Here she is:

Incredible?!

I'm not even believing that I am here at the DIY Showoff!

Roeshel is so talented, and beautiful and creative,

and I LOVE her blog and her projects!

And, I LOVE visiting her blog!

I'm so grateful to her for letting me share with you today!

My profile picture1

My name is Melissa,

my logo

and I share my home and projects over at DaisyMaeBelle.

WELCOME to my home!

I so wish that you could be here for real. . .

My Foyer @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd tell you about my rusty gate. . .

My Dining Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

and, my favorite mirror that hangs in my dining room.

It's my favorite, because it belonged to my grandmother.

I remember it hanging in her formal living room when I was a little girl.

My Dining Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd tell you about my hutch that I found at a yard sale 15 years ago for $75,

and how I've painted it twice now.

dining room summer 201307

I'd show you my hydrangea wreath that I made last year.

You see, I have this hydrangea bush that blooms thousands of huge blooms every year.

And, I have the blooms all over my house. . .

and I give them to my mom. . .

and my friends. . .

and my neighbors. . .

And, it has been blooming these thousands of blooms every year for at least 10 years.

Even though I do NOTHING to it!

Family Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd show you my new rug,

that took me 2 years to find.

Not because I couldn't find anything,

but because I couldn't find anything that was cheap enough for me.

Until my husband finally said,

I would REALLY like a rug.

So, I went ahead and bought one that week 🙂

Family Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd show you one of my many gallery walls.

I have gallery walls all over my house.

Not because they are all the rage,

but because I just like to hang a lot of pictures. . .

How could I pick just one?!

Family Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd show you the table that I just painted.

And, I'd tell you how I found it in my in-laws basement 17 years ago. . .

back when my husband and I first got married,

and we couldn't afford furniture,

so, we would go to my in-laws basement to see what we could find there 🙂

Family Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

Maybe we could take a break and sit in these chairs.

You'd be able to see how comfy they actually were,

and I would want your opinion on what fabric I should recover them in. . .

and if I should paint the wood or leave it alone?

Family Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd tell you about this table that's so special to me.

It was the first piece of furniture that my husband and I bought 17 years ago.

We were just out of college,

and were totally broke,

but one night we went over to the Pottery Barn outlet,

and they had this table for $75,

and I fell in love with it,

and my sweet fiancé bought it for us.

And, we stored it in my parent's garage until we got married.

My Kitchen @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd show you my kitchen,

and tell you about how my dad painted my cabinets. . .

. . . twice.

And, about how he told me that he was glad to paint them,

but he wasn't planning on doing it again 🙂

My Kitchen @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd show you how I had framed some ironstone platters that I found down at Goodwill.

My Kitchen @ DaisyMaeBelle

And, the chalkboard that I painted right on the wall and then hung a frame on top of.

Bathroom Makeover18

I'd show you my silver platter wall that is in my downstairs bathroom.

And, tell you that it was there

because I saw this picture on Pinterest of a silver platter wall,

and I fell in love with it,

and I didn't have a wall available in my kitchen or dining room,

but I did have a ton of silver platters from wedding gifts that I had never used.

So, I painted the bathroom

and hung them in there.

Bathroom Makeover01

It sort of makes sense since this bathroom is in a little hallway between my kitchen and dining room?

Teens Girl's Room @ DaisyMaeBelle

I'd show you Daisy's room.

We just finished it.

Every other room upstairs is still a work in progress.

Anna Belle's room is next on the list.

I can't wait to show you all of those. . .

Backyard @ DaisyMaeBelle

And, since I would have worn you out

and talked your ear off.

We could go sit by my fire and just relax. . .

With a big glass of sweet tea. . .

And, you could tell me everything there was to know about you 🙂

I'd love for you to come visit me over at DaisyMaeBelle!

Life to the full!

Melissa
