3 Favorite Fall DIYShowOff Projects

Fall is in the air! Mornings are crisp and chilly (back to school weather), days bright and sunny, and evenings cool and perfect for a cozy night’s sleep!

I decided to gather up and feature three favorite fall projects from the DIYShowOff archives. So here we go!

Fall Favorites:

Fall dream catcher wreath tutorial: my all time favorite! Isn’t it beautiful? It’s large and in charge and a statement that doesn’t go un-noticed!

Wooden candy corn decorative accents. Cute and whimsical and so much better than there real thing! Well, at least in my opinion. What do you think? Are you addicted? I remember mom filling the candy dish. And I’m pretty sure they were purely decorative until they formed one hard mass at the end of the season. lol

Decorating with non-traditional autumn colors can be a challenge but I can’t wait to tackle our dining room fall decorating again this year! The DIYShowOff 2017 fall home tour has lots of inspiration!

Those are DIYShowOff’s most popular fall blog posts and my favorite too! Are you ready for fall? Are you an all things pumpkin spice loving, mum planting, autumn leaf raking, sweater and boots, warm fuzzy throws and mulled cider fanatic? What’s your favorite thing about this time of year?

Welcome, friends!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like fall! Let the decorating begin. Pumpkins and mums, rich warm colors and cozy sweaters. Love this time of year! Don’t you?

I recently whipped up a festive dreamcatcher wreath for the door in the entryway (see the fall dreamcatcher wreath // door decor tutorial for more details).

I love decorating this entryway area where we installed Shaw’s durable and water resistant product called Floorte´. Style and color are Classico Plank // Antico and I love the rustic feel for this old farmhouse, don’t you? A beautiful mix of beige and grays. Very rustic.

The perfect farmhouse vibe with a durable beautiful finish to it. Perfect for greeting friends, tracking in wet leaves. No worries! And best of all, it compliments our home’s style. So warm and welcoming!

I also added a few fall touches to our living room to spice things up creating a cozy reading spot for curling up with a good book and mulled cider for those chilly autumn days.

“October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came,—Fall Home Tour Shaw Floors diyshowoff The Ashes, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.

Finally, remember when I recently gave our dining room a color lover’s makeover and worried that the beautiful palette of blush, chartreuse, navy and grey would be short-lived because holiday decorating would be a challenge?Fall Home Tour Shaw Floors diyshowoff

I’m finding that the push to be creative with the specific color scheme is paying off and I love the results of a pink, cream, green and navy fall tablescape and decorative accents.  Fall Home Tour Shaw Floors diyshowoff

DIY Fall DreamCatcher Door

Okay, DIY friends! I know it’s been a while. Life has been a little crazy so it feels like forever since I’ve had the time to do something DIY related myself but it’s beginning to get crafty over here! With Fall comes routine. Loving it! I’m kicking off autumn with this beautiful DIY fall dreamcatcher wreath (door or wall decor) tutorial! Here we go:

DIY Fall DreamCatcher Wreath Tutorial

What I used for the DIY Fall DreamCatcher Wreath Tutorial:

  • small hula hoop (check the clearance sections this time of year! I got mine at Michael’s Craft Store)
  • doily (affiliate link) to fit inside (a bit smaller than the hoop so that it can stretch to fit)
  • string
  • assorted ribbons, lace trim, twine, decorate rope, etc.
  • fall florals (separated using wire cutters)
  • hot glue gun and glue

DIY Fall DreamCatcher Wreath Tutorial // What I did:

I tied string to the outermost scalloped edges of the doily.

Then using hot glue, secured one end of the string to the hula hoop, one end to the next, careful to keep it centered and pulled tight. This just temporarily holds the string in place for the next step.

Next, I tied the doily to the hoop with knots all the way around. Trim ends

I then covered the hula hoop using 4 inch wide ribbon, securing the beginning and end with hot glue.

Then cut different ribbons, lace trim, twine, etc. into desired lengths and add to the bottom of the dreamcatcher.

I had to look it up but I used a lark’s head/cow hitch type knot to secure the ribbon to the wreath.

Last step! I simply glued on some fall florals.
