Roomspiration – Bathrooms

Roomspiration
Isn’t the Roomspiration so much fun?! Have you been linking up and visiting the links?  I love seeing inspiring bathrooms – real homes, real functional spaces and transformations, don’t you?  Today I’m joining SJ at

She has a beautiful master bathroom reveal.
We actually have 5 “bathrooms” in this old farmhouse which consist of a powder room in the unfinished basement (actually in the old scary original cellar part) which is only used because of convenient location when we’re down there working on a project. No, I won’t share that one with you at this time.  It’s clean with the exception of perhaps a spider because of it’s rare use.  When we get to remodeling the basement, renovating the small powder room be a part of the plan.

I‘ve shared these next two before, but I love that I can show you how they’ve held up and stood the test of time AND have a little motivation to clean for current photos.  🙂

On the first floor, we have a guest bathroom and a powder room.  These I will share with you. Both were budget friendly and serve as pretty functional use for us as well as guests in our home.

Powder room before was closed for business.
We took everything out and started from scratch.
(Sorry this is so gross!  It’s aood thing we could see the potential in this old house – a lot of areas were disgusting.)
It was originally a closet back in 1927.
Now it’s light and bright and clean…

The first floor guest bathroom before was ugly but being a bathroom used by guests, I wanted to make it less of an embarrassment.
When we bought the house (minus the carpet – yes, carpet)…
Now…
When we bought the house except there was no door there.
Now…
The painted and stenciled floor was a budget friendly waterproof solution until a bigger budget is dedicated to this area.

The last two bathrooms in our home are upstairs.  One full hall bathroom and a dinky teeny tiny master bathroom. Seriously – you probably have a closet that’s larger.  Those I will not share until I have a pretty ‘after’ transformation to ‘show off’.  They’re both ugly, outdated and gross but one step at a time. Remember, we DIY and remodel as time and money allow. No debt.  So until a few main floor projects are completed, those will stay our little secret.

Let’s see what you’ve done with your bathrooms!  Head over to join us at

and link up your bathroom makeovers!

Fall Festival coming a little later this afternoon since both of these linky parties fell on the same day.  🙂

Reminder to head over to Shaw Floors’ Facebook to enter to win a new area rug or flooring for one of your rooms and to vote for Cassity and Roeshel.  We’d love for one of our e-friends to win (and in return, we’d love our coastal cottage room to win too!).  Good luck!

Roomspiration – Living Rooms

Roomspiration
Another fun day of Roomspirations – Living Room edition hosted by Kelly at
View Along theWay
I haven’t share much about our living room in a while.  Nothing exciting or new going on in there except my new Shaw Ikat panel rug (you can win one HERE – Hurry! Today’s the last day to enter!).  The rest of the room is a “working with what we have” while other more important projects are going on.  It’s comfortable and it’s where Mr. DIY, Lalka and I hang out in the evenings.  In fact, I’m sitting on the love seat right this minute as I’m typing this up. There’s a lot going on in our living room but we love it.
Our living room that will undergo another DIY transformation again one of these days but not any time soon. When we bought this house, it had old nasty stinky carpet.  Walls were painted wallpaper.  First thing – out came the carpet and pine floors were sanded, stained and poly was applied.  Wallpaper was scraped and  painted.

Before
After – you never see cat trees/posts/condos in magazines…but it’s real life for cat owners. I do love that hers is a neutral ivory fleece.
Because of the layout of the room – see the pictures where there is something on every single wall…the tv is most convenient over the fireplace for us and believe it or not, we don’t suffer from neck issues.  🙂
Before
After

Before

After – French doors now separate this living room with another family room/library/office room (not even touched yet – another project for another time).  Sorry about the blinding lamp on the left…took this picture at night. (Lalka can usually be found at the top of Mt. Kitty.)

Before – scraping painted wallpaper over plaster walls. Not fun!

After

What do you think?  Now how about you?  Head over to the View Along the Way to see Kelly’s beautiful living room and join us in sharing your living room in the Roomspiration party!  Here’s the schedule for the rest of the linky parties. Hope to see you there!

Roomspiration – Entryways

Let’s get this party started!

Roomspiration
What better way to kick off Roomspiration than with welcoming entryways, right?  Pop over, knock on a few bloggers’ doors by visiting Laurel Dawn at Abode Love  (her entryway is GORGEOUS!) and walk right into some inspiring entryway links.
Technically, we don’t have a front door or entryway yet.  Previous owners enclosed the front porch/front door area and now it opens to the side.  We don’t use that entryway at this time, we use the set of French doors off the kitchen.  So, until hopefully next year when we knock out a wall in the enclosed porch and add a beautiful front door area and entryway, I’m bending the rules for me and here is where we enter our home and what currently qualifies as our front entryway…
I’ll be sharing the entry way area in our kitchen coming up soon.  🙂

And here’s another entryway, the second set of French doors at the back of our home…

This area has actually undergone some changes but it’s not finished yet.  Another day or month or couple of months. I’ll spare you the other two entryways because they are frighteningly ugly and it’s not Halloween yet!

Head over to join the fun and link up your entryway at

abode love: a man's home is his wife's castle
Here’s the rest of the schedule so you can join the parade and see more home inspiration! I’ll be sharing some of our finished rooms that you’ve probably seen if you’re a DIY Show Off fan, but I’ll take some fresh pictures so it won’t be so boring for you. And if you’re a new reader…you’ll get a look at where I live.
