Congratulations, Jessica! I’ll send you an email to get your mailing information!
We’ve been using an enclosed porch as a temporary pantry ever since we removed a closet from our kitchen but with warmer weather approaching, it’s going to need to be moved inside for better temperature control. So, it’s time to start considering a pantry makeover.
Inspiration: I have had this open pantry image from Emerson Made saved in my inspiration files forever.
The ideal spot is the ‘room’ behind this back wall in the kitchen…
It’s wider than a hallway and sits between our kitchen and living room and has FIVE doorways. Time to make the most of what has always been a waste of space. The freezer will be relocated to the basement.
The first step in prepping for painting is to examine the walls and fill any holes, cracks or imperfections with spackling, letting it dry and sanding smooth. My Swiffer Sweeper is handy for cleaning up the spackling dust.
Then time for a little clean up. This area is so dark and un-used, meaning it often gets overlooked even though we walk through here nearly every day. Cleaning up before painting is important. Ever get cobwebs on your wet paint brush? No fun. A Swiffer Sweeper with a dry sweeping cloth works really well by attracting dirt and dust from virtually any surface, including walls, ceiling and baseboards with it’s 360 degree swivel head. With the long Swiffer Sweeper handle, I don’t even need a ladder to dust the 9 foot ceilings and corners.
I DO clean so I’m embarrassed by the dirt that accumulated in this dark, unused space. Yikes! This is just from the ceiling, walls and trim above 5 door frames. It’s not something you’ll want to paint over.
I can’t believe it took cleaning this room for me to actually see the dirt. Gross! Next prepare for painting by taping off trim. Then paint!
After painting, I use my Magic Eraser. It’s is so powerful that it removes more grime per swipe than the leading all-purpose bleach spray cleaner, and it has no harsh chemicals. I seriously have a basket full of Magic Erasers. With a husband who loves to cook, I use them all.the.time. for cleaning up spills and drips on white kitchen cabinets too.
It’s going to feel so good to use this space, for it to be lighter and organized! I can’t wait!
You can find all of your painting supplies, including the Swiffer Sweeper and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, at the Home Depot near you. Be sure to visit Paint Like a Pro at HomeDepot.com for a paint calculator and more great DIY painting and tips.

Ooo, I’d love to win! I have a pantry to makeover too. It needs a fresh coat of paint plus organization of the shelving in there. It’s also my laundry room. It’s a space with untapped potential! Love your inspiration photo! The jars are just wonderful – I love that look!
My next paint project – I’m embarrassed, too. I did built in bookshelves in the office for my husband, but I still need to caulk 3.7 million tiny little spots and paint.
Then I want to pain my bathroom – but I haven’t decided on color yet.
I too love my magic erasers and swiffer. I will be using them on a console table I want to repaint and stain the top on. The swiffer sheets work well to remove the sanding dust too.
My green bathroom will soon be painted white. Thanks for the chance to win.
we are redoing a bedroom for two new foster kids, teen boys who are a joy,but messy none the less!
Great giveaway. My next paint project is a buffet I “rescued” from the side of the road.
My sewing/craft room
My next painting project (do they ever end?) is my office/spare bedroom. I’ve been dreading it. I love your ideas! Brightening it up, moving things around, and organizing it will help this room reach its true potential. To be honest, I need to get busy on this room and with Spring around the corner, I’ve gotten the bug. I can’t wait to get started! Now I need to start looking at fresh colors.
I’m plannin on painting the armoire in my guestroom a fun yellow! That Home Depot gift card would come in so handy! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
My next paint project will be the master bedroom. “Prayers are needed!” lol
Well, I have a few painting projects waiting for me – the school room, the kids vanity, the library panelling up the stairs, and touching up the pantry shelves.
I would paint my home office ! It needs a change of color !
Great giveaway
I am wanting to give a big mirror frame a new look
I absolutely love your blog! Anyway, my next paint project is my laundry room. I feel I spend half of my life in there so I would love to make it a beautiful space that I can enjoy.
We’re in the process of painting our living room. Old, dark wood paneling, but with light bluenpaint it makes the room look like a beach cottage.
My next project is my bathroom. I am looking forward to it! I simply love the idea of a total transformation that I can make happen with a little elbow grease and some hard work.
I just moved into a new house and all the walls are a builders cream color, so…..I’m going to paint pretty much EVERY wall in my house….soon.
I would like to paint my kitchen and my bedroom!
My next painting project will be the sun room…..it has two brick walls that will really soak up the paint!
I’m ready for an upstairs hallway repaint! Good bye sea-foam green!
We are hoping to turn our spare bedroom into a space for me to craft, scrapbook and do my photography (perfect natural light in there!) This would be great for us to win to jump-start our project 🙂
My next project is the room in between the kitchen and living room. It’s a walk through room piled high with books and junk and I’d like to make it into an office that is functional!
Trim! (it’s sitting in the bathroom, not attached to the wall and not painted… oops!)
We are getting ready to paint all the trim in our current house so we can sell it and then we’ll be moving to an old ugly house that will require paint on every surface – including the floor! Can’t wait. Sure could use the cleaning products and the gift card!! Thanks.
I’m painting the wall behind my piano that never gets moved and sits right by a vent. I’m slightly nervous about what I’ll find behind there, but equipped with the right tools (and some rubber gloves) I will be brave. Thanks for the giveaway chance.
My next paint project is a buffet my husband purchased off of Craigslist for Christmas.
My next painting project will be my guest room. It will need a complete make over because the roof and adjacent side walls were destroyed by a 96 foot oak that crashed through the evening Sandy hit NJ. I am so thankful it was not occupied that evening. JERSEY STRONG!!!
I ave 2 ceilings that need to be painted! I could use a little love to et that project started! Thanks for the chance to win!
I have so many things that need to be painted. I would start with my pantry and my laundry room. Thaks for this awesome chance to win!
The bedroom of my two youngest son’s ~ it needs an update. Thanks for the giveaway, Roeshel.
Pantry, master bedroom, bathroom udates!! So glad to have the opportunity to win.
I’m about to make a little closet into an office. Going to paint the wood walls a creamy white.
My next paint project is my foyer! We’ve got the uck uck wallpaper stripped off, just need to finish mudding the corners when it warms up and then paint paint paint.
Next painting…. Oh please let it be my kitchen, but I just never have the money for the paint and at least one good paint brush…… much less anything else needed. It is actually a NON functioning kitchen now because of too many needs…. need to reseat the sink, put in new faucet that just totally bit the dust by not turning off at all!!!! Leaks in the counter surrounding the kitchen sink and therefore some crumbled fake wood cabinet backs under the sink. It is horrible!!! And I don’t have any help at all…….. so ask me, I need everything.
And I live in Home Depot, now I have researched and researched, just to come up with any money at all. I live on SS retirement alone and trust me, it is not even close to enough to buy food and critter food and their needs. My really, really big dream is to come up with a kitty enclosure like Julia’s over at Cuckoo 4 Design. But then I don’t even have the privacy fencing to start with. Sigh……..
My next painting project is two tables and a chest.
Thanks for the giveaway contest Roeshel! Next up for painting is what was posted on the blog today…Ty’s room (little boy bedroom). Talk about needing dusting…all the furniture that has to be moved from walls 😉 lol
I’m in love with Mr. Eraser! He saved us from painting the interior of our last home before we sold it. My next painting job will involve the wall behind our bed in the master bedroom. I think I’ve decided to stencil some beautiful white aspen trees to match the ones outside.

My husband and I are helping my grandma, a widow with a limited income, remodel her farmhouse. The next painting projects are the bathroom walls and cabinet, the kitchen, dining room, and bedroom. She would be thrilled beyond words if I won this giveaway to help her out! Thank you for the opportunity! : )
I am getting ready to paint our guest room walls and wood floors. Still trying to choose perfect color! Thinking dark grey for walls and white washed floors. This prize would sure come in handy! Thanks for the chance!
My next paint project is my bedroom. First it needs to be dusted (old houses are the dustiest!), that’s probably a days work as there are a lot of nooks and crannies to get into. Then once I’ve finally figured out which of these 10 paint samples on my wall to chose from, it’s time to paint. I don’t think it’s been painted in at least 10 years! Talk about being long overdue.
My next paint project will be the playroom that will be converted to the girls’ room. Some pink may be in order!
We are getting our house ready to move and the realtor said we had to paint our red bathroom. So that is the next painting project.
Ooohhh, fun!! I can’t wait to see your new pantry Roeshel. I love every one of your projects! 🙂
My next paint project…well, probably it will be repainting over my oops, I don’t really want “that” color in my dining room! LOL
My next project is kitchen cabinets .Im so scared to do it but I did my bathrooms cabinets with rustoleum kit and it looks really good…for now Im still looking, planing and hopefully soon I will start .Fingers crossed lol
Just installed crown molding around my kitchen cabinets and can’t wait to paint them to match the cabinets! While I’m at it I’m going to remove a cabinet door for some open storage and paint the inside of the cabinet as well.
I am hoping to paint my oak kitchen cabinets soon. You have a great space in that hallway to make a pantry. Can’t wait to see the finished product!
my next paint project is… A WHOLE HOUSE! we are moving into our new home next month! this would be a HUGE help!! thanks for the giveaway!
My next painting project will be my new kitchen cabinets. Thanks for the tip on using the magic eraser before painting I never thought to do that before.
Drooling over here! That first image of the pantry is the same one I have on my computer as inspiration! I think I would just hang out in that space if I had a pantry like that. lol I will have to try those swifter mops. The magic erasers are one of my must haves! They are truly magical. 😉
My next painting project will be the kitchen. I hate to admit it, but the walls need more than paint. I’m encouraged to see how well the Swiffer on a pole works. I’d love to win so I can get one of those.
I have several projects planned and I intend to start with my pantry; Re-paint, new shelves and organization.
I am going to be moving, with any luck, this spring–have to downsize, but I am planning on painting my new place to reflect my personality (and go with my soft furnishings, as well!). I am a bit of a clean freak, too. The gift card along with the Swiffer and Magic Clean erasers would help me do at least one room, maybe two! Since I, like Sheryll, am on SS retirement, this would be a tremendous help. I do pride myself on being a dab hand with a paintbrush as well as a broom!
I would love to try the swiffer sweeper! I am working on my home office and closet. Lots of holes and touch ups. Yuk! My best friend lately is Home Depot so could really use the gift card. Thanks for this great giveaway.
i want to paint a wall at my friends restaurant….
Oh! Thank you for this giveaway! I just bought a secretary desk and a beautiful scroll back chair to go with the secretary at a flea market near my house. After I clean, sand, paint, distress, and then wax them both, I will recover the seat of the chair. Whew! It makes me tired just thinking about it, but I will be so glad to have them in my master bedroom. I have wanted a secretary desk for so long and this one came at the right price! Thank you again for the giveaway!
I am wanting to paint some custom art work for our condo we are renting to make it look less drab.
I plan on painting my bathroom next! It’s way to dark… I’m sure I could use a swifter for the dust bunnies on the ceiling!. Thanks for an awesome giveaway!
Testing comments.
Pantry needs to be painted to match the kitchen. Not looking forward to the job of hauling everything out and unscrewing all the shelves but it must be done. Help me out, would ya! 😉
Just bought a new house……the living room needs paint real bad, but I am most excited about painting inside my closets. (I have been staying with the in-laws for the past 11 months…..everything in piles everywhere) I miss closets!!!!!
Great giveaway. Helping paint some walls in our church will be my next paint project.
We really should paint in the kitchen.
These icky closet doors need to be repainted. While I’m at it, I may as well paint them something much cuter! Maybe a glossy tangerine?
Our next painting project will be our little one’s nursery this summer 🙂
i just stripped a sweet little bedside table that will be painted white with some antiquing
My mom is moving into the same town as me and my family, and the inside of her house is in need of a fresh coat of paint.
I want to give my master bath a facelift with a new soothing paint color.
Enjoy your blog and insperation!
Paint an old night stand
I would love to win. I want to paint my bedroom and bathroom.
My laundry room looks as dingy as my dirty wash. It’s next on my list for a paint job.
where do i start…i have so much to paint. every room in my house to be exact. plus, in between all that, i have an end table that needs some tlc and a antique tv stand to white-wash. good luck to everyone!
Oh’ Roeshel, do I have paint projects. I just finished my craft room (not satisfied with the color) and Master bedroom and have the master bath to do next. I also want to repaint my closet, no little project since it has built-ins. I also have a cabinet that I want to paint.
Thanks for letting me enter… Tracy@CottonPickinCute

I’ve been wanting to paint our bedroom for ages. Thanks for the giveaway!!
My next paint projects include a bedroom (to complete a makeover), a laundry room (’cause it needs a little jazz) and an ugly side table.
My next painting project is the den built-ins. I’ve waited (and feared this monstrous task) 3 years, but I’ll wait no longer! I’m ready to tackle it.
Mary
Our downstairs bathroom needs a paint job! Gotta remove that outdated wallpaper, first!
We definitely need to paint our whole first floor! I need to decide on a color first though! 😉
I need to paint our bathroom. I used inexpensive paint and it is peeling around the sink. But on the bright side because I am going to have to paint I have picked a pretty new color
I will be putting grey stripes on my son’s wall next week. You know a little boys room is grimy LOL!
I would like to paint my family room. It is too dark and dreary (with one brick wall) and I want to lighten it up in time for Spring.
My next project is to paint the front of the linen closet doors and trim. Love to win this!
My next paint project will be several closets. Need painting in a bad way.
My next painting project will be repainting the entry door and the bedroom doors!
We are so looking forward to painting our new baby room…we are going to be proud parents and this will be our first DIY paint project together…how wonderful is that? I am happy!
I have several tables that I need to paint!!
I’m moving in a could of weeks and I have to paint my sons rooms
I can’t wait to see you pantry finished.
I love magic erasers and Home Depot…and I’d love to win 😉
Oops, and my next paint project is my powder room.
I will painting out upstairs corridor
I’m in the midst of my own pantry/laundry room remodel. Painting was only half the battle but it sure makes a difference. And I feel your pain about the doors. There are four doors in my pantry and it’s only about 10 feet square. It’s nuts!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
David
I am currently working on a paint treatment as a kitchen back splash. After that I will be stenciling an accent wall.
My next paint project is my girls’ bathroom. It’s currently the same netrual off-white it was when we moved in 4 years ago. It’s time for a change!
I’m planning a little facelift for my master bedroom right now, and paint is high on the list of things that need to be done! 🙂
My bathroom needs a fresh coat of paint – mainly because the color just doesn’t work anymore.
My bedroom! When I moved in with my daughter a few years ago she quickly re-painted, but only had time for one coat and it now looks patchy. She said she’ll do the work if I pick out the paint! So this gift card would get it done!!
My main floor powder room. When we moved in a few months ago the entire main floor was repainted…except the bath, which has a wallpaper border..on 3 walls. The 4th had it too, but is has been removed so it looks awful!
Our next paint project is the scariest of scariest projects. We’re going to paint our 1973 laminate kitchen cabinets. Can you say GULP?! lol! Anyway, the advantage is they are perfectly flat, so that should make it go fast and smoothe (no pun intended…lol). My biggest obstacle is picking that perfect color. I don’t want pure white, but something on the off white side. Too many choices!
Finallly, fresh paint for master bedroom!
Our project will be for our daughter for spring break. We will build a toy chest because she has outgrown her old one and she will paint it. We also need to redo our dining room wall and also we need to repaint our baseboards around the walls in our home- they are scuffed to the max
My main bathroom…..it’s currently in test paint colors so basically it’s been spotted since Christmas but will be getting white board & batten with a swanky color above!
We need to paint the new window trim my husband installed (a while ago…)
My next project is a combination home theater/study…. then the bedrooms… then the bathrooms… then the kitchen. 😉
Where do I start? We bought our first house recently, so EVERYTHING needs re-painting! Probably the kitchen, though. The ugly 80’s style border along the top has to go!
Well I’m going to say it will be my living room. But since every time I vow the next project to be one thing, it ends up being another. So, I may be lying.
Well I have been busy researching how to build different things with wood. So my first project is still underway, but it will require some nice paint at the end. Its a bird house of sorts, and I expect it will get more use from the mice and other little. Either way I want it to look great with paint that can handle the elements of Mother Nature.
