With summer right around the corner, it’s time to spruce up outdoor seating areas. The oil rubbed bronze of this bistro set matched everything nicely but it’s just so brown and tired.
Before:
Originally it was a $15 yard sale score, ivory and rusty.
Wayyyyy before…
Here it is better staged in our grape arbor/gazebo recycled brick patio/pathway reveal, but it gets lost…
Here’s what I did:
Remove the glass top. A little sanding of the rusty spots, a good wipe down (Yes! That’s Young Living Thieves household cleaner)…
and one can of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2X in navy (don’t forget your mask)!, a day of dry time….
…then re-insert glass, top with a couple of homemade cushions and I’m loving the new pop of color.
After:
Much happier, isn’t it? Do you have some tired old boring outdoor furniture ready for a re-freshening?
Love it! The pattern on the cushions is perfect with the navy.
How fun, the blue is perfect. Great idea.
Looks brand new and happy and I am so jealous of you – only $15?!
I really want a set like that to put in a corner of our yard. One day, I will persuade my husband to take me to yard sales. One day… 🙂
Such a a beautiful pop of color…I love it, Roeshel!
Ooo, it looks so pretty! Love the color and cushions. And yes, I need to redo my outdoor patio set. Need to decide on a color and get it done before it gets too hot!
Oh man, you made this update look so easy! I would definitely love to have some outdoor furniture like this – so cute and chic!
Love the blue bistro set! The color is awesome. Plus the pillows look great as well 🙂
The power of paint! I’m working on a few things around my house that involve fresh coats of paint. Something so simple can make such a huge impact. Great job!
Very pretty, Roeshel! I love the blue ~ so cheery and fresh.
Good work, congrats, from Italy
I’m helping my daughter rehab a very similar set. We’re struggling with how to remove the glass. It seems that it would slide out with the right angle, but we’re worried that if we get it out we won’t be able to get it back in. I’d love to see a video. Any suggestions?
Hmmm. When we removed the screws, the metal ring just lifted off (glass rests on top of legs). Sorry I can’t be more helpful!
