Happy New Year, DIY Show Off friends!
Thank YOU for an awesome year of friendship, encouragement, support and sharing DIY, decorating, home improvement and crafts. If it wasn’t for you or for sharing our love of DIY and decorating, the hard work involved with blogging wouldn’t have the special meaning that it does. And as revisited my 2012 DIY projects, I couldn’t help but think that the BEST part of 2012 wasn’t my DIY at all. Nope. It was the DIY community, my DIY friends, DIYShowOff readers, my blogging buddies. YOU are the best part of DIY Show Off, YOU are a blessing, the reward and your comments encourage more creativity and motivation to move from one completed project to the next. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m looking forward to another year of getting to know, making new friends and of course, more do-it-yourself decorating and home improvement.
2013 GOALS
Do you make new year’s resolutions? I call them “goals”. Here are my thoughts for me starting 2013 off on the right foot:
- time management: Develop a schedule for blogging, projects and life. My current schedule is random and although I’ve adjusted to working from home, I need to create a routine. I’m not spending the right amount of time for each task I’d like to complete, even on a daily basis. Do you have any tips that help keep you on track? I’d love to hear ’em!
- blogging: Working towards another successful year of doing what I love and being better at it.
- loving: Adjusting to an empty nest means there’s just something missing at home. Our girls are on their own and we lost our doxie 3 years ago. In 2013, we’re opening our hearts and home to a dog. Our rescue application has already been submitted. Just waiting for a match. Can’t wait to share our new fur-bundle of joy with you when the time comes. If you’re a long time DIYShowOff follower, then you know that our doxie, Niski, was a big part of my blogging. I can’t tell you how excited I am to have a canine assistant again.
- hobby: Become a better photographer {practice.practice.practice.}
- DIY: Of course there will be DIY! on the list: a dreamy cottage style bathroom makeover is a must as well as finally completing the family room/craft room but my biggest DIY *wish* for 2013: new windows, a welcoming front door (previous owners re-routed the ‘front’ door to the side when building an enclosed porch) and some pretty landscaping. It‘s a mess of a jungle out there! This is the view of our old farmhouse from the road…
Seriously…a holly bush has turned into a 20 foot tree. And it looks as if this old farmhouse has turned her back to the world in shame, doesn’t it? Hoping to help her smile with pride in 2013.
Wishing you a happy, healthy, amazing new year…
Happy New Year Wish
My Happy New Year wish for you
A year where life is peaceful,
And what you want, you get.
The past year’s memories,
And live your life each new day,
Full of bright expectancies.
With happiness galore;
And when it’s done, I wish you
Happy New Year, and many more.
See what goals my friends’ are sharing {please feel free to share or include a link to your goals in the comments as well}:
Hi, and Happy New Year, here is a suggestion for better time management, set your computer/phone to remind you of your task…sort of like a alarm clock does to wake you up in the morning. Since you already have an idea of how much time you want to spend on each task/project….and know your projected completion dates more or less….this just might be a great idea. You can even set it up with a favorite song and motivational visuals!—-I have been thinking of doing this for a year now and I am so ready to try this. Please share your ideas on this as well. I love all your creations….keep up the good work! you help inspire so many us. I am a 3rd year interior design student and enjoy your post!

Happy New Year, Roeshel….I will be looking forward to watching you meet your goals in 2013!
Hi and Happy New Year….this may have posted twice…I have an idea for time management….something I have been thinking of doing and will be trying…how about setting your computer/phone like you do the alarm clock in the morning to wake you up.Since you already know how long you want to stay on each task/project and have an estimated time of completion for each goal this can be a fun reminder of “Okay let’s move on to the next creation reminder”. You can even set music and motivational visuals to it to get you going….tell me of your ideas on this. I am 3rd year interior design student and love all your creations and post, thanks for keeping em inspired.

My resolutions/goals are to organize the pantries at both houses, do touchup painting in the kitchen, and try to finish projects before starting new ones ( not sure that one will stick ha)
Looking forward to seeing what you do this year! Happy New Year!
Cecilia

Oh…I’m so happy to hear you are adding a dog to your family again. I don’t know how you went so long without one. The best thing I did in 2012 was get my Franklin. Can’t wait to read all about the new one.
Wow those are some good and worthy goals. Here is to a new and untouched 2013 and that we can make it everything we want it to be, together!
Happy New Year to you too, and may all your DIY wishes come true this year!
This was a wonderful post. I know you will reach your goals in 2013. We have been so busy around here I only picked a word for the year. No resolutions.
Happy New Year! I love your New Year’s decorations! Your house is amazing! I’d love to have a house that size!! It’s a great house. Have fun this year with the DIY! Can’t wait to see it all
