Looking for a new idea for your Christmas tree? Grab these things:
- large galvanized beverage tub
- gold spray paint
- FrogTape® Multi-Surface
Use the FrogTape to create stripes or a pattern on the galvanized tub. i just applied mine without exact measurements. Wouldn’t triangles, x’s or chevron be pretty too?
Using a plastic card, burnish the edges of the tape.
I covered the handles with sandwich baggies and taped them in the ‘up’ position. Spray paint the tub. I positioned mine upside down.
As soon as you’ve finished, carefully remove the FrogTape.
Let paint dry. Remove sandwich bags from handles.
Add a tree stand, assemble and decorate the tree.
Since our cat likes to roll around on tree skirts, I love this option.

Oh my gosh, after 30 years of using that galvanized tub that I used to wash my pup in as a kid…….. I am finally ‘in style’. I have changed it with spray paint a few times through the years. And this worked for a real tree for me for years, then I just went with faux the last years.
I really love it. Because with a real tree, after you do the fresh cut, then I used to put it immediately into the water in the tub, then put a cap full of bleach into the water….. can not do that with fur babies that might get to the water. But isn’t it a great idea?
We did this with our tree this year and it looks awesome. A great way to get away from the traditional tree stand. And it helps keep the area clean as well.
