DIY Project Parade ~ vintage inspired craft room/office reveal

I think I’ve only shared a peek of my craft/office space in the past. I challenged my flu-fighting self to clean it up yesterday in order to accomplish something. It sometimes quickly becomes a dumping ground for everything craft related. Note, this is a tiny room…so while it looks like I may border on ‘hoarder’, it is all organized!  I confess, it’s not only craft supplies but just things I like and things that I might find a use for in the future. It is a lot crammed into one small room.

This room before was a spare bedroom that never got used…

I moved the bed to a guest room downstairs.

And moved my office/craft stuff upstairs. (So visitors don’t have to see a mess if I’m in the middle of a project.) Now, everything old looks fun and organized. I love that I don’t have to always use the dining room table for craft projects.

Light fixture is newer and has been sitting in a box just waiting for the perfect spot (I got it last year but can’t find it online anymore). It could be great DIY project using a wire basket.

Baskets and vintage crates hold craft paints, ribbon, sewing supplies, glues, hand tools, stamps, tape, etc.

vintage craft room, organization

I love my flea market finds: Wire paper bin and wooden carpenter’s tool box, old crates…

French Canvas Totes: I didn’t get them here, but you can. I don’t remember where I got them a few years ago.

old metal display…

I’m not sure what this is called, do you know? It hangs on the wall, it’s metal and fancy. It has a sharp point for keeping track of important papers {or favorite magazine inspiration}…vintage wall mounted paper file? clip? holder? spear?

A farmhouse table becomes a work space…

I made panels and use tension rods to hide more storage space underneath. {or kitty’s secret napping club…pardon me!}

craft room makeoverThe walls are covered with pretty things I’ve collected over the years, family photos, yard sale treasures, things that inspire me, TLC art and DIY art.

Black lamps with burlap shades are from Big Lots last year.

Shelving is the cheap types that become ‘parallelograms” without extra support but the set of 6 we had fit perfectly on the back wall, helping to keep everything upright.

craft roomSo, crowded? Yes, very. But it’s comfortable, cozy and a great space to get creative.

vintage craft roomWhat do you think?  Could you work in a super-stocked space like this?

Let’s see what you’ve been up to!

  1. Your craft room is just gorgeous. I love it and I am inspired. I am actually a bit jealous! I have no room in my home for a craft room, but I am definitely pinning this for reference if my home ever does sell and I move into a new (and larger) space!

  7. I liked it before I ever walked through the door in the first photo. The lamp, the interesting displays, the glass jars…… the O R G A N I Z E D stuff!

  8. Oh Roeshel! Not only could I work in there, I would love to just move in there. I have a lot of black and white in my craft/work room too, and I have a Farm Table that is my work table. I love the idea of putting the curtains around it. I always have such a stash of junk under it. What a fantastic way to hide the junk! Instead of Mason Jars, I have tin cans lined up that hold my paint brushes, scissors, pens, etc. Love that every day item made into something useful look.

Thanks for the party, I am enjoying looking at the great link ups.

  9. I love your room! You have so many places for your things – great storage! I certainly could get cozy in your craft room. I have a little spot on my sunporch and it’s always filled to the gills and not necessarily organized like yours! You’ve done a great job and thank you for hosting your party.
    Be a sweetie,

  11. LOVE all your vintage pieces. No clue what the spear/hook thing is either but I would love to have one. Thank you for throwing an amazing party (as always). Hop by my party if you get a chance.

  12. I created and thoroughly tested my recipe for Cheap, Organic Facial Moisturizer that ends up only costing you $0.75 per 2.5 oz (standard facial moisturizer size)! Those are savings to take to the bank! Have a great week!

  16. Wow! that room looks great. Mine is still stuck in the “not a bedroom not a workroom just a mess” stage and has been for a loooooong time. Congrats – beautifully done!

  17. What a warm, cozy, inspiring room. I could definitely work in it. I like to have everything close at hand. I love the extra touches of the buttons on the wall, the thrift store finds, the bowling pin, etc. Right up my alley (so to speak).
