DIY Gold Dipped Furniture Legs

Add a little more interest (and color) to every day pieces of ‘forgotten’ furniture to spice things up a bit.

This round side table is so pretty and the long criss-crossed legs are the perfect length to add a dipped look. I was really tempted to do hot pink or bright turquoise but chose gold since I like to swap out color in decorative accents so often.

Remove each furniture leg and the small leveling/floor protector from each leg.

Decide how much of the legs you wish to be painted and mark each leg.

Create a clean line using FrogTape®. Rub the edge of the tape with your thumbnail. Tape off all areas not to be painted.

Then spray paint. I gave each leg one coat of paint + primer.

Before last coat of paint dries, remove FrogTape.

Transforming Home Decor

Who doesn’t love the power of paint? Need a quick change in your existing decor? Pick out a decorative accent and give it a coat of spray paint for a fresh new look.

This deer head was pretty and shiny in silver but I wanted a more custom look: oil rubbed bronze with gold antlers to be exact.

Using FrogTape®, I taped off the deer’s head then gave the antlers a quick coat of gold spray paint.

I removed the FrogTape and did two coats of oil rubbed bronze on the deer head without taping…so it could fade up into the gold.

Much better for the space above my greenhouse frame turned desk. workspace

Havertys Holiday Hosting

I love decorating my home for the holidays for getting together with family and friends. As you know, we don’t currently have a front door or foyer but it’s on my wish list for 2014. I popped over to Havertys.com to do some virtual foyer decorating to ‘complete’ the vision I have of creating a welcoming entryway for future holiday hosting.

Welcoming! Eclectic. I love that the apothecary chest has a rustic-look finish. The olive buckets are perfect for displaying party favors or a few small gifts. The chainlink mirror and silver antler candle holders add a touch of glam but also that repurposed theme I love so much. A neutral entry way rug softens and warms the area. Choosing neutral colors allows for easy swapping of seasonal decor. And the pop of red gives this area a festive feel.  A happy beautiful entryway will welcome guests and leave them with a good first impression. (Maybe they won’t notice the unfinished projects. haha!)

See if there’s a Havertys near you for some last minute holiday hosting home prep.
