Patti (my youngest sister) is renting but has permission from the landlord to paint…and to be creative about it too. The entryway wall before had peeling paint…
I scraped and sanded until we had a smooth finish. Holes and cracks were patched using DAP’s DryDex (spackling that goes on pink, dries white) and sanded.
The walls got a coat of primer and a base coat in a neutral light gray color.
Using FrogTape Delicate (the yellow painter’s tape with PaintBlock Technology, safe for freshly painted walls) the next day, I created a chevron/zigzag pattern.
Then painted the zigzag stripes alternating a left-over darker gray paint and left-over gray-beige paint (the color under the tape is a lighter gray).
As soon as I were finished painting the second coat (while it was still wet), I removed the FrogTape Delicate.
Next up cleaning the dingy vinyl floor and decorating.
After (paint is still drying):
Patti just happens to work part time for a thrift store so she gets first dibs on all of the eclectic treasures (and has a good eye for what can be transformed). Lucky girl! If it was me, I’d never get out the door with a paycheck. I’d be trading those dollars for thrift store goodies!
Even though the wall now sports a busy pattern in 3 colors, the colors are neutral enough to work in some fun colorful accents and patterns. {All accessories found on Polyvore.}
teal, gold & gray
coral, black & gray
emerald & navy
gray & mustard
Looking forward to seeing what she does, how about you? Which color(s) do you like?
This is a sponsored post brought to you by FrogTape. The opinions are completely my own based on my own experience.
I just LOVE this version of chevron!!!! Very inspiring!!
LOVE love LOVE!!! I think my favorite color scheme might be the coral. But they all look amazing. I can’t wait to come back and see how it gets accessorized!
Roeshel, you did an amazing job! I am impressed. My lines would be completely jacked up! lol Love the space you chose and look forward to seeing how you decorate it. I like the teal and coral images. But, I am sure whatever you do will turn out lovely. 😀
So…I feel dumb. lol I seriously got excited about the accent wall, that I just realized it was not yours. Oops. In any event, Patti did an amazing job!
I think I need to go back to bed. All morning I have not been thinking clearly. 🙁 lol
Is it Friday yet? I understand! lol! It’s not in my house/my wall but I did do the work (not Patti) so easy to misinterpret, Julie!
Wow, Patti did a fabulous job….. this would have gave me a migraine to just get the tape correct. I painted a little left over piece of thin plywood in a chevron & I found that difficult. Not enough left over paint, had to use scotch tape …… not recommending that one for sure!
And my little dog Gallahad died last Thursday, the 07th, a little after 5 P.M. I did not think I would live from the heartbreak, then I got sick… so trying to recover from a sinus infection now…. just quit doing most things this past week. I still have my other 3 pups and the kitty kats….. so they are keeping me busy.
Awe, so sorry about the loss of your little guy, Sheryll! (((hugs)))
Love it- a great spot for this treatment- I can’t imagine taping that much off for a full wall, though I know it has been done. 🙂 I’m loving the emerald and navy most.
Thanks! Once you get going, it’s really not as time consuming as you’d think. I think the emerald and navy is my favorite too, Sheila!
The wall turned out great. I love the colour combinations you suggest. I wouldn’t know which to choose, I guess it also depends on the colours in the house.
I love this so much…sharing on my FB page. Great work Roeshel!
Thank you so much, Julie! Woo hoo! That makes my day happier! 🙂
Coral is my number one choice with Teal as a close second. Love the wall design too!
Thanks, Christina! I love how most any color works since the design color is neutral. But the coral one is one of my top choices too.
Wow! All those color palettes look fantastic! I think the first one caught my eye the most. Gold and gray is such a unique combo.
Love the staircase railing by the way!

Really nice job! I’d love to do chevron too, but I’m too darn impatient!! I think my fav color combo would be the coral…something about it just pops against the grey wall. I do like the other too, though!!!
Wow, I love what you did to that wall! The emerald green is my favorite!
I love the chevron Roeshel!! What a transformation! I’m usually partial to turquoise, but I love the coral board you have! It’s going to look great when it’s all finished being decorated!!
Love that two-tone chevron! I’ve had a real chevron craving lately so when I saw you today on Looksi, I had to come check out how you did it! Love that last yellow color plan you put together too. You’ve definitely got me thinking. Thanks again for the inspiration, Roeshel!
I am loving the coral AND the green accents. It would be hard to choose but easy to change up if you wanted with the spunky neutral backdrop. This wall looks amazing with the Chevron stripes. Makes me want to do an accent wall! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Does anyone know exactly what paint colors were used and what brand?
Hi Dawn! Actually, it was a mix of leftover paints which is why I didn’t list the brands/colors. I believe the light grey/beige color is Benjamin Moore Smokey Taupe (that’s what’s in my livingroom/stairwell at my house) but I don’t know about the more elephant-looking grey. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful!
