Powder Room #1 Transformation:
First, let’s take a look at the before picture. Keep in mind that previous owners foreclosed on this old farmhouse and that we lived with this room stripped completely for over a year (that nasty carpet and fixtures were gone)! Thank goodness for my ability to see potential, otherwise this alone would have had us running the other direction!
BEFORE – gross!
AFTER
See the details at Powder Room Transformation.
Originally a closet. I could have patched where the hinges were, but I really like that it’s history shows.
The door and trim got a makeover too…
I added a built in shelf above the toilet…
Wall color is Benjamin Moore Smoke.

New meaning to the term water closet!
You’re so right, Debbie! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Could you source the light, the mirror/shelf, and the curtain for us? It is all beautiful and inspiring! I thought we had the smallest bathroom in America, but I think yours is pretty close! 🙂
Here’s a link to the sources, Laura: https://diyshowoff.com/2012/03/18/diy-project-parade-and-half-bathroom-before-and-after/
I know the light fixture and curtain are probably no longer available.
Beautiful after. I wish my half bath looked just half that cute.
I pinned a lot of these pics for my soon to be 2nd beach home we are building. LOVE the flooring and the cute built in shelf. And…I wish in our current home I could put non-breakables on the toilet. My husband uses the powder room a lot and he’s a big guy. In fact, I’ve had to replace the toilet seat already once…he broke it. lol. I’d be afraid he’d knock something over so all I have is a basket on the toilet. Oh well.
Your powder room is just beautiful, Roeshel! I love the built in shelf. I have a “water closet” in my Master and I never thought about adding trim like that! That is a great idea…
Can you give the dimensions of this room? I need to add one to my craft room. This is lovely!
Hi Nancy, it’s teeny tiny at 41″ x 67″ (around 3 1/2 ft by 5 1/2 ft. or 20 sq ft) … hope that helps.
Just popped over to this post after reading your basboard tutorial. Very nice. I did the same with my ceiling molding to incorporate a picture hanging rail. I love the light fixture. Can you share where its source? CTD
Hi Teresa! The light fixture is a couple of years old so I don’t believe it’s available anymore. 🙁 It’s from Urban Outfitters. More source materials on this blog post: https://diyshowoff.com/2012/03/18/diy-project-parade-and-half-bathroom-before-and-after/#more-2806
Wonderful job! This is absolutely beautiful. I have a similar project to do, and you’ve given me inspiration.
could someone email me the color of this blue bathroom? Thanks!
Hi Anndee! The color is Benjamin Moore Smoke. 🙂
Hi! You did a lovely job on this bathroom! I would love to know what color you used in your bathroom? It’s such a great color! Thanks! 🙂
Thank you, Michelle. It’s Benjamin Moore ‘smoke’. It’s been quite a few years so hopefully it’s not discontinued. Good luck!
Beautiful job. I am looking for a blue/gray paint for my guest bath. The paint color in your pictures definitely reads “blue” though the paint chip reads more “gray”. In real life, does the paint look blue? Thank you.
Hi Julie. Yes, with the lighting in my bathroom, I’d say it looks blue. Hope that helps. Good luck!
