True Value is asking America to help stage a design intervention!
Niski the DIY doxie begged for scraps to be able to make the announcement here and I couldn’t resist those puppy dog eyes…
Dear DIY‘ers,
Do you or a friend have a need for a design rescue?
Friends don’t let friends live with disastrous design – so True Value is asking do-it-yourselfers around the country why their friend (or even their own abode) needs a DIY update! Whether it’s a hideous living room with ancient wallpaper or an outdated basement complete with retro wood paneling,
this is your opportunity to help yourself or friends realize their DIY dreams! Do not let sleeping dogs lie!
Enter a friend or yourself in the True Value “Design SOS: Friends to the Rescue!” Contest and you could each win $2,500 to use at a local True Value store and an in-person project consultation with a knowledgeable True Value “Master of All Things Hardwarian” who can provide practical DIY advice to transform your design from unfortunate to unforgettable.
Any friend who wants to help another friend break free from dated decor, home improvement hang-ups or DIY distress. You can make their “SOS” cry heard and give them a chance to turn their design disaster around.
Entries will be accepted September 2 – October 7, 2010.
According to Niski, “Chasing your tail gets you nowhere … except back to where you started.”
So visit StartRightStartHere.com and submit a short story entry (250 words or less) along with either a video or up to three photos of why you or your friend deserves a DIY lifesaver.

I was one of the bloggers selected by True Value to work on the DIY Squad. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program as well as my writing about my experience. I have also been compensated for the materials needed for my DIY project. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.
I have dressers on the brain. Ididn’t paint my youngest daughter’s French Provencial furniture but Sarah from Room to Think has me re-thinking my decision. For real. Paint something pretty and it’ll be gorgeous! And she was kind enough to thank me for the inspiring project featured on my blog. Thank you Sarah for inspiring me to look at paint colors. 🙂
Here is the $40 dresser before. It’s pretty!
But check out the gorgeous after!
Love the color! It’s called “Pooh’s Favorite Things” by Behr. It’s one of my favorite things too. I love a light aqua blue (Tiffany’s!) paired with pink for a little girl nursery.
