Hello, DIY friends! Happy Memorial Day Weekend! For most, it’s the first weekend of the summer filled with picnics and family get togethers, making memories, but the long weekend is also perfect for catching up on some do-it-yourself projects around the house.
DIY Show Off Recap:
Fabric Interfacing/Applique Tutorial
(and Silhouette Portrait Giveaway through Monday, May 27th)
SHOWING OFF: Here are some highlights from last week’s DIY party for some summer time DIY inspiration. (*Reminder: Please pin from the original source links included below.)
~Awesome Rooms~
Mel really transformed her kitchen with a DIY wood plank back splash at Junkin Junky. Wow!
A change in seasons is the perfect time to give a room a mini-makeover with moving things around and a few fresh new accents. Lisa shares her pretty family room changes at Before Meets After.
I think Anu is secretly Wonder Woman. Her modern dining room reveal at Nalle’s House is stunning…a bright, beautiful transformation.
An awesome entryway makeover at Hey Ambular makes this space much more functional.
~Fab Furniture~
Rebecca did an awesome job with this gorgeous vintage chair makeover at Living Better Together.
If you saw the condition of the “before”, you’d agree with me that Courtney did an amazing job on this dining set makeover at A Diamond in the Stuff. Lovely!
I always love seeing the furniture rescues and makeovers at the Weathered Door. Isn’t this a beauty? Inspiring!
Another super talented amazing furniture doctor, Restoration Redoux. This happy yellow side table makeover makes you feel better and smile, doesn’t it?
Shavonda shares some great tips for using oil based paint in her table makeover at A House Full of Color. Beautiful results!
~Amazing Accents~
I love embroidery hoop art. Easy way to add pattern and color into a room and Carrie does the cutest job in the nursery with nautical themed embroidery hoop art at Making Lemonade blog.
Limited budgets often inspired DIY as is the case for Laura. Her knock-off PB Hayden utility boards at Inspiration for Moms are every bit as awesome as the real version for a fraction of the price.
Another PB inspired DIY: Jaime always has the coolest fun DIY projects. Check out her PB inspired lazy susan tutorial at That’s My Letter. Wood. Metal. Love it!
While we’re on the subject of knock-offs, Kim’s Ballard inspired rop mirror at Made in a Day is a great summer/nautical accent.
I’m not good with installing zippers or buttons when it comes to sewing, so I do exactly what Krista shows you: Simple DIY envelope pillow covers at The Happy Housie. Great tutorial!
How cool is this idea for displaying medals at Shaped by Grace?
I love love love this chalkboard basket organizer by Lesa at Home Frosting. Chalkboard. Seagrass. Awesome-ness!
Marianne always has the cutest DIY and rooms filled with charm. I love her vintage door chalkboard at Songbird.
~Outdoor Decorating~
I love pretty colorful flowers for summer time outdoor decorating. See a great tutorial for DIY hanging baskets at Life After Empty Nest. Thanks for the tips, Sharon!
Beautiful inspiring window boxes at Just Grand. Erin…those are stunning! Wow!
Jenna at Rain on a Tin Roof: screened in porch makeover is so pretty. Love the decorative accents and comfortable space for summer days.
Desiree’s fun summer wreath at the 36th Avenue is a great way to add some colorful whimsy to welcome guests. So cute!
