Hurray! Another week of productivity at DIY Show Off! Look for the apartment reveal towards the end of the week! I CANNOT WAIT to share the “after” tour and show you the DIY projects that we’ve been working on since July! Here’s the before…

Apartment reveal coming this week!

Cristy from Menemini shares her amazing before and after school room/play room makeover filled with tons of fun DIY accents…

Shari (Turnstyle Vogue) dressed her fall mantel in dried hops with a football accent. Her gorgeous mantel would look amazing with any decor, but I love her original ideas. Perfect for fall!

Did you see the gorgeous master bathroom makeover at Suburbsmama? I love all of the luscious white materials (the tile, that vanity) paired with the aqua chevron shower curtain. I’ll take one of these (the entire bathroom) in my home, please!

Angela from Number Fifty Three’s dining room makeover reveals a beautiful mix of old and new. How about that book page wall? Fabulous!

It’s evident how much love went into this sweet little girl’s nursery from the beautiful attention to detail from Jen, The Consigner Designer. Every part of the room reveals something special. Speaking of special, Jen is taking a little maternity leave from blogging…giving us a great chance to catch up on her posts in the meantime.

DIY Project Parade – a place to share and search for DIY creativity

I love this time of the week – a chance to see your creativity, your crafts, your DIY projects, your home improvement. I love visiting the links and sharing our common interest: DIY!

Last week, along with a few other things, I shared the bathroom makeover progress from the apartment renovation:

Some good things about this past week…

DIY:

Apartment floors are finished! Ohhh and they’re sooo pretty! Just you wait and see! I’m definitely doing a happy dance over this accomplishment. Ugh. Lots of work! So glad it’s over!
Blinds are hung…freebies too. Mr. DIY dug them out from somewhere and I’m sure he told me where, but I think I was probably working and only heard the important part – free blinds. And “he” installed them. Thanks, babe!
New deadbolt installed. My impatience had me putting it right back in the box and thinking the brassy gold deadbolt with lost key and the fact that it didn’t match the brushed nickel door knob really wasn’t that important. Again, Mr. DIY rescued the day. He’s my hero.
Dressing room area of the apartment bedroom started. So fun!
Few paint touch ups completed. Since fall has arrived and the window air conditioner was no longer needed {brrrrr!}, it was removed and I could paint the window sill. And a ginormous box on the apartment wall {something for an outdated telephone line} was removed and I touched up that area too.
Old cheap bar stools and a little kitchen island/bar were given a little DIY magic. Such a budget friendly way to furnish the apartment since we already had this stuff just sitting around collecting dust. Saved some $!
Dug out some fall decorations and I’m starting to play with getting festive for fall.

Not DIY related:

Met up with a sweet blog friend. {Reposhture}. It’s so good talking and laughing with a friend who shares the same interests.
Fun fashion photo shoot where I pretended to be a photographer. I admit…I loved the little break away from months of non stop DIY.
Invitation to participate in the local Symphony Holiday Tour of Homes fundraiser! Such an honor!

But, life isn’t perfect and there were some pretty crappy things this week too. At times like those, I hold a pity party for one for a bit. Then I count my blessings.

DIY Project Parade

distress DIY wood plank sign tutorial: my assistants {otherwise known as my thrift store shopping and do-it-yourself girls} take an afternoon to get crafty.

apartment: painted cabinets {old not-quite-builder grade cabinets get a makeover to match the updated countertop. well, nearly everything has gotten a makeover in this dinky rental. love the fresh new look, don’t you?}

This week, we put in a new toilet, new vanity and today I’ll be back at the apartment working on some plumbing with Mr. DIY along with installing new vanity lighting, a bathroom mirror and finishing up sanding a door in prep for new paint. Tired, yet? It’s all a part of the DIY journey but the reward is well worth the time and effort.

I’m hoping to share our tiling experience from the apartment bathroom this coming week. And this week, I am finally refinishing the sanded hardwood floors! Woo hoo! You know what that means?! JOYFUL DIY! Once those are dry…the fun decorating, fun small space storage solutions begins! Finally! The rewarding part of the apartment renovation. As usual, there will be a lot of DIY and thrift store shopping. Can’t wait to share with you! Want a sneak peek?
