DIY at Cedar Hill Ranch

Good afternoon, DIY friends!

I‘d like to introduce you to Anita from

Cedar Hill Ranch is about creating a relaxed lifestyle and home that is also graceful and beautiful, a place that embraces family and friends in a comfortable way while making them feel special and celebrated. I think of French life being about family and friends in a beautiful setting, sitting around a outdoor table with good food and good conversation. I write about how to create a home that embraces your family and guests with interior design ideas, DIY projects, antiques, vintage dishes, great recipes, entertaining, and anything else I find interesting or helpful.”

Anita shares some beautiful and inspiring DIY ideas…
Before was DIY & pretty.
But Mr. Mouse (you’ll have to visit Anita to get the full story) forced her to give the day bed a makeover.
Now it’s beautiful back porch coziness…
Gorgeous details.
Thistles in a tin can?  Simple and pretty accent!
Hi Molly!
Dreamy, isn’t it?  Inspiring too.  Makes me want to give my back porch swing a new look!
Enjoy a ranch tour while you’re visiting Cedar Hill Ranch…

Outdoor Gazebo Ideas/inspiration

Last year, we had a bistro set under the gazebo part of the arbor.
As you can see, the “floor” is still a bit wild.  I’m hoping this year we’ll get to creating a flagstone, brick or stone paver ‘floor’ in time for a graduation party.
I‘ve started staining the wood.
Now it’s time for a little decorating inspiration:

I‘d love to create this type of atmosphere…
I’m searching craigslist for an option with more seating than the bistro set. I’d love to get my hands on this for $40 and give it a makeover, but I haven’t received a response from my inquiry yet.  This would be lovely for in the gazebo part.

Or two of these under the long “wings” of the arbor?

But of course, I have to be patient. I have to wait.  All 2100 lbs. of bamboo flooring arrives today and that much awaited project is next on the DIY list!

Involving Color

Jena from Involving Color has some amazing before and after transformations to show off…

January seems to be a month for focusing on organization and that’s exactly what Jena’s done with her shoe closet.  What a lucky girl – an entire closet dedicated to shoes!  Here is the before:

And here it is now – all organized!

To see the entire transformation click HERE.

Makes you want to see more, doesn’t it?  Well…we’re in luck.  Her half bath got a makeover too.  Here is it is before:

Here is what she did:

  • Remove wallpaper.
  • Repair walls, prime, and paint.
  • Install plantation shutters
  • Install new toilet paper holder and towel bar
  • Install pedestal sink and faucet
  • DIY artwork

  • Ta-da! Hard to believe it’s the same room!

There’s something else I’d love to show off about Involving Color.  The Involving Color Image Gallery allows you to search rooms by paint color, by room or by painted furniture!   So cool and lots of inspiration!

Thanks, Jena for sharing your projects.  Every single thing is awesome – so beautiful!
