Starter Home to Dream Home

I love meeting DIY bloggers, don’t you? Here is another I’d like to show off. (If you were early yesterday, you caught my blog booper. Oops.) Introducing Mikael from
Mikael is fairly new to blogging and she’s off to a great start with a lot of helpful tips and information in her posts along with before/afters and DIY eye candy.

And you won’t believe it. She finds the time to DIY on a budget with a 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old twin boys. I know. Superwoman! Pop over and say hello! She’s given me a heads up on DIY projects coming soon. I can’t wait!

Thanks so much for sharing Mikaela! Your home is beautiful and your posts are full of so much helpful information! I can’t wait to see your next DIY project!

Coming up this weekend!
An exciting giveaway celebration for DIY Show Off readers.

During a short painting break tonight (I survived the DIY-gone-wrong yesterday), I’m reading some favorite blogs and came across:
Furniture Feature Fridays

I
completely forgot! It’s a good thing I needed a break or I would have missed it and I wanted to share with you and participate because I know you all love furniture makeovers as much as I do! (See here).

I know most of you have seen this, but if you’re new, here’s my dresser makeover:

Again, before…
A little paint (Ralph Lauren mahogany) and new knobs give the dresser a cleaner and more modern look.

And now. Really – it’s the same dresser!

I’ve had this storage cube in the closet for years. Full of memories but hidden away.
Cute…but full of memories and buried in a closet.
Now with a new cover and cushion…perfect little stool.
Head over – it’s a fun party full of fabulous furniture features!

Furniture Feature Fridays

While you’re there – check out her blog. So much talent. So much inspiration. Tell her I said hello! TGIF! (Back to painting!)

Show & Tell Surprise Party – Furniture Makeover Madness!

Furniture Makeover Madness. I love it! I have so many pieces of furniture sitting around with ideas in mind. Check out these inspirational projects. Click the blog link to see the original post, more pics, “furniture surgery” and more creative projects.

Before – yucky!
After
What I love about this is the magical transformation. Ottomans are SO expensive…look how pretty and perfectly cozy this turned out!

Twenty-Six to Life

Before – monster!

After – sleek and gorgeous!

So many beautiful transformations, I couldn’t choose just 1.

From Jenna – A couple months ago, my aunt was cleaning out her basement and discovered an old patio set that used to belong to my Grandma. It was in good shape and we were in need of a patio set so I snapped it up! I picked up a couple cans of black Rustoleum to cover up some of the rust spots that were showing through and had my Mom cover the seat cushions with some outdoor fabric. The real change needed to happen to the table though, I considered investing in some fun table clothes but decided to go all out and try this mosiac t
ile project. The black tiles were remnants found at a local tile shop (pretty cheap, though I can’t remember the exact price), the while tiles were from Habitat for Humanity Restore (10 cents a tile!), and the green are smashed IKEA plates ($3-4 bucks/plate, I used 3 plates I believe). It’s not quite finished because I need to seal up the edges and make them pretty, but I couldn’t hold off sending in pictures any longer!
