Inspiration strikes at the home improvement store! Meet Sammy. She renews furniture and loves giving rooms a makeover.
Sammy shares our love of walking around a home improvement store for inspiration and recently came home with flashing! What’s better than a big roll of metal? Ohhhh so many possibilities and Sammy instantly thought of her desk.
Here was the desk before.
Supplies:
The Flashing she used was a relatively thin roll of aluminum, which is perfect for creating a stainless steel look. Cut it with metal sheet scissors. Just measure, mark, and cut your pieces, then attach them with nailhead trim. She used “Silver Leaf” Rub n’ Buff around the small trim pieces for a more seamless look.
WOW! What a makeover! I love the aluminum (stainless steel look) with the nailhead trim. Gorgeous!
Sammy says it’s super reflective! Want to see more? Pop over to Renew Redo to see what she’s up to!
I love this look. It’s such a difference from the old one. I’ve never tried this before.
This is amazing! It’s a totally unexpected outcome, so far from that old battered desk in the first photo. Now that’s what I call thinking out of the box. 😀

Your desk looks awesome. What a good idea.
This is absolutely amazing, and I am going to Home Depot TODAY to get some flashing. I haven’t seen anything this fun that is calling my name in a long time! It looks amazing!
WOW. I want to do this. like, tonight.
Wow! What a difference; great job! Seems like a lot of work; cutting that sheet metal and hammering those upholstery tacks in; why not just paint it that color silver? What was your cost for doing that? Amazing idea and it sure turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing! I can’t imagine being able to cut that large of piece of sheet metal with tin snips..what did he use to get such a straight edge?
