Like to attract bird’s to the backyard? Me too. Well…away from the patio where I enjoy sipping tea and starting my day with devotions.
The next time you’re at the thrift store, pick up an old candle sconce, tea cup and saucer to create a cute little bird feeder.
What I used:
- candle sconce
- tea cup & saucer
- Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover x2 (satin aqua)
- sanding block
- damp rag
- E600 glue
- clamp tape
What I did:
Lightly sand and clean candle sconce. Apply light even coats of spray paint and let dry.
Using glue, attach saucer and tea cup to candle sconce (saucer first then tea cup after the saucer has dried).
This is the first time I’ve used clamp tape. LOVE it! Worked really well to keep the pieces together while glue dried.
Let dry according to glue package instructions.
Hang, fill with bird seed and enjoy!
So adorable! What a great repurpose!
This is such a cute idea! Like a floating tea party! Love it x

What an awesome idea! So pretty for spring!
Hi Roeshel, I just wanted to let you know that you are one of my nominees for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award that was recently passed on to me! https://fromevijawithlove.wordpress.com/2015/04/12/very-inspiring-blogger-award/ I love your work !!
Oh wow! This is simply stunning! The color is perfect for spring and summer, and the design has a combined whimsical affect. Love it!
Its so beautiful. I specially liked the color contrast of blue with brown. Creativity is indeed God’s gift 🙂
What about of it rains? I would imagine the bird food would get wet and maybe be ruined? Or the cup would fill up with rain and the bird food is submerged?
You’re right, it would! But I don’t go out and fill it in the rain. 😉
I have like 5 candle sconces that I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them!! Well!! Now I know!!! Thank you for sharing this!! Now I don’t have to listen to my husband say, “What in the hell are you going to do with all of this stuff, Jenn??! You are a hoarder!!!”…. LOL!!!! ???????? It will give me something to enjoy, as well as giving my cats something to enjoy as well!!! ???? Thank you!!
LOL, Jenn! You may want to monitor the bird seed on rainy days unless you have a source of drainage! 😉 Good luck!!! Have fun!
This is beautiful. I hope I can find the pieces so I can make it!!
