A recent thrift store score inspires a new addition to our family room.
Materials:
- old lamp
- FrogTape®
- spray paint
- new lamp shade
It goes without saying but I simply taped off the parts I didn’t want sprayed with paint using FrogTape.
I gave the lamp a few light coats of spray paint (allowing dry time between each).
Then I removed the FrogTape while the last coat of paint was still wet.
Finally, I topped it with a new lamp shade.
A quick new lighting accent in our family room….
Keep your eyes open at yard sales and flea markets this summer. Snag a lamp for cheap and give it a new look to freshen up your existing decor.

This is awesome! It would go perfectly on a red dresser I just did! It’s amazing what a small easy paint job can do! That shade is the perfect finishing touch!

Great color and the shape is fabulous.
I love the color! What an incredible transformation!
Looks so much better!
I think that would actally look cool on a blue dresser, maybe pick up on one of the colors in the shade? Red and blue would be appropriate for a boys room. I love little projects that take somethng that would be tossed away and giving it new life.
I am always amazed at what you can find at thrift stores like Goodwill or the Salvation Army. When I visit my local stores, I am always looking for a new project to undertake. There are so many great products that were made to last a long time, it takes someone with “the eye” to see the possible. Great post.
