I recently had the pleasure to e-met Julia from
Julia is cuckoo for her cats too and her 4 furry rescued children are adorable.
She introduces her DIY cat tunnel best: “I always felt bad about keeping my cats inside but I also know that there are so many dangers awaiting them outside. We happen to live in an area where there are numerous busy streets and also an outdoor shooting range. Unfortunately a lot of people hate cats and do unspeakable things to them. So as they reached the senior citizen stage, I couldn’t take it any longer because I felt so bad about them never lying in the sun, breathing the fresh air, watching birds, squirrels and butterflies… so I started to think. After searching the net I saw that there are several professionally made outdoor cat cages and some home made ones. And I started to wonder if I would be able to do the same in our small neighborhood without it sticking out like a sore thumb.”
Julia created an amazing {and fun} outdoor haven for her kitties and it’s safe!

That leads to here…(see the window on the right)
Super cool!
I LOVE this crazy cat tunnel and it looks as if Julia’s furbabies do too! See the details and meet Julia and the cats at Cuckoo4Design. {and check out her other amazing DIY projects too!}

Looks like her cat has fun walking through that tunnel! We had to put hoops with a cover over it over our raised beds and our cat loves going in there to sleep.
WOW! That is so stinkin’ COOL!! I want to make something like that for our cats!!! How FUN!
How cool! I always see stuff like that on Animal Planet, but it’s fun to see it in a blog. My kitty would LOVE that!
Is is such a great idea!!! I miss my kitty
This is fantastic! The commercial tunnels are very expensive, so good for her for being smart and handy enough to make her own. Her kitties look very pleased!
Wow that is so great for cats. I don’t let my cat out because it is too dangerous, but she would love a little outdoor fun like this.
I have two indoor kittos and I always feel bad that they can’t go outside. I make sure they can always look out all the windows, and I open the windows when I can so they can enjoy the smells. This looks like it was a lot of work, but it is wayyyy cool! It has me thinking….
That’s so cool! What a clever idea!
this is such a clever idea!
Thank you for all the kind comments about my cat enclosure and thank you for featuring it. I’m so happy to see that there are other people out there who love their pets and don’t think this is too crazy 😉

This is amazing! My 4 kitties would love it too! We keep them inside as well and I have always wanted to buy a cat tunnel. Wish I was handy enough to build this! Lol
Can you show a close up of how you connected it to the window?
Hi Angel – if you click the link to Julia’s original blog post (mine is only a feature of her project), she should be able to answer your question. 🙂 Isn’t it awesome? She is so talented. Definitely something on my to-do list too! Good luck!
I love your design. Do you have a how to manual 🙂 How did you figure out to do this. I want this for my three cats. I would love any input you have. thanks
Hi Dianna. There’s a link in the post to the original blog source. She’d be the best person to ask. 🙂
What and where did you find the window entrance and exit? We are wanting to build one for our cat and maybe one for our Red Mini Pinscher. Any information you can provide would be appreciated.
Hi,
I’m curious about how well the chicken wire cat tunnels worked out. Did you ever have any issues with the cats getting caught in the chicken wire? Are they allowed in the tunnels while you’re gone during the day or only when someone is nearby? I’d like to do this, but want to make sure it’s safe.
Thanks!
Cecelia
