DO IT YOURSELF – do something this weekend.

It’s calling for snow here. The warmer temps were just a tease. Snow for me means staying at home. Just some quick, easy ideas for motivation all to start somewhere small this weekend to accomplish something productive. For me, it always leads to bigger things. Taking 15 minutes to do one of these, almost always inspires me to work a little longer and accomplish a little more.  Here is what works for me:

  • Clean off the kitchen counters. Before I know it, I’m scrubbing things down, sweeping the floor, wiping down the fridge. I love a clean kitchen.marble subway tile, back splash, do it yourself, virginia mist granite, hanging mugs
  • Sort through a junk drawer. Organize chaotic papers and receipts, put ‘quick clean shoved’ items where they belong. Having everything where it belongs feels so good.craft room, organization, vintage, craft supplies, home office
  • Make the bed. In our home, this doesn’t happen daily but taking a minute to make the bed = picking up clothes, dusting and rearranging decor. I love when that happens!poster bed with curtains, turquoise and orange, do it yourself, bedroom makeover
  • Actually look at craft supplies and materials, then browse Pinterest for an idea. Time to get creative!craft supplies, organization, ribbon storage

Do you have do-it-yourself plans this weekend? I do! Mine involves primer and paint. How about you?

Inspiring Living Room Reveal – The Painted Hive

When Kristine from the Painted Hive revealed her living room, my mouth may have been hanging open. I might have drooled. Mostly, I’m inspired.

Sigh…isn’t this straight out of a magazine? She has a beautiful home.

We’re starting our family room makeover (more on that coming Sunday) but I’d love to copy/paste Kristine’s living room into my family room.  If I was technically savvy…I’d make that happen. 😉

The living room is open to the dining room and it’s just has dreamy. I love the mix of rustic and industrial, don’t you? Some people just have a talent for pulling it all together beautifully…

One last peek, then you’ll have to visit The Painted Hive for MORE including details, more Pin-worthy photos, DIY, links, sources and cost breakdown.
