Hello there, fellow DIY Showoff readers! I’m Amy, and I blog over at Tulip & Turnip.
I am so incredibly thrilled to be guest-posting for Roeshel today! The DIY Showoff is one of my daily reads because, like you, I love to roll up my sleeves and get dirty working on projects around my house. And who doesn’t love a good before-and-after?
A little about me: I started Tulip & Turnip four years ago when my twins were born 9 weeks early. It was a great way to keep friends and family updated on their health and progress. What I soon discovered was that I LOVED writing, and the blog became a creative outlet for me. It has evolved a bit since then. I still blog about parenting at times, but also about home decor projects, DIY, party planning, gardening, crafts, recipes, and whatever else I’m thinking about! My brain is always in overdrive….
Here’s a glimpse of some of my favorite projects.
I recently finished (for now) my son’s camping-inspired bedroom:
Two of my favorite features of the room are the Pottery-Barn-style oars and the scout badges that belonged to my father:
Next up for a makeover is my daughter’s room. It’s not finished yet, but I did create some custom artwork for her. She’s named Charlotte after the book Charlotte’s Web, so it seemed fitting that I honor that in some way. You can read the full story here.
I’ve also been known to rehab old furniture:
Sometimes I’m feeling crafty. On those days I might try my hand at freezer stenciling:
Or making some free printables for the holidays:
As you can see, my blog is a bit of a hodge podge of everything! I’ve got a few projects I’m working on these days that aren’t quite ready for an official unveiling, but how about a sneak peek for DIY Showoff Readers?
I’m updating my family room, and really wanted an upholstered ottoman…but I wasn’t thrilled about spending hundreds of dollars. I bought this thrift store coffee table for $25. (I forgot to take a true “before” photo….this one was taken AFTER I had already spray-painted the legs a glossy brown!):
And plan on upholstering it with this fabric:
Also, I recently bought these wooden chargers on clearance:
And I’ve been busy silver-leafing them and turning them into mirrors:
Stay tuned for the reveals of these projects and more!
Thanks again to Roeshel for inviting me to visit with you today. I hope you’ll drop by and see me over at Tulip & Turnip! 🙂 I’d love to hear from you!
