This note from Ashley made me smile:

HI! My name is Ashley and I just wanted to submit a recent DIY project I did! I am also a brand new blogger and you can visit my blog at

I was super excited to do this project as it was something I had never done before. I made this ottoman from scratch, from buying the wood, foam, batting, and fabric to putting the whole thing together….as it was my design I didn’t have a pattern for the fabric on the top so that took a little while to figure out how I wanted it to look. I also hand painted the legs! Thats probably my favorite part about the piece! I hope you all like it!

She made this from scratch?! I love it, Ashley!

Contact paper doesn’t come in much of a selection.  I love this idea from Tisa.  For $8.86 she gave her cabinets a custom look with scrapbook paper and spray adhesive.

DIY Gallery Wall

Sarah from Comfort and Joy took a completely empty apartment, an inspiration photo and recreated the look her way and on the cheap.  It looks awesome!

Here is her inspiration photo:

She talks about her gallery wall more in depth on her blog along with more fabulous DIY projects, inspiration and design boards.   It was completely DIY. She was lucky enough to get a discarded copy of Audubon’s birds of America and with a little cutting, framing and arranging, her bird wall was born.

I love taking inspiration and making it work in my own personal space.  Sarah, you did an incredible job at making your gallery wall every bit as beautiful as your inspiration.  Love it!
