Need a cure for post traumatic wallpaper scraping syndrome? If you’ve ever had to scrape off wallpaper, you’ve suffered from this, right? I have! Using paint and stencils – you can get the same look BUT without the fear of having to scrape it off in the future when your style changes. This post will give you an idea what I’ve been up to. 🙂 Great minds think alike! Nicole from Design Blooms created a beautiful stenciled wall in her bedroom. I love the colors and the design she created is beautiful.
Here is her bedroom before (love the relaxing colors and that bedding!):
Here you can see the stencil she created (inspired by a photo in Cottage Living). She traced it to create a continuous pattern and painted it in. Patience!
And here are her after photos. Isn’t is a beautiful change? I love it!
Fantastic job, Nicole! Thanks for sharing!
I love a lot of the new wallpaper patterns coming out but I suffer from post-traumatic wallpaper removal. There has been way too much wallpaper scraping in my lifetime (including the ceiling) so I like this option much better. I’m working on doing the same in my daughter’s room using my damask Cutting Edge Stencil and hope to share it next week!

I love the latticework look! She did a great job!
Love it! She did a great job!
wow, that looks just like wallpaper, only waaaaayyyyy better, you know, because you won't have to scrape it off to change it. Removing wallpaper is one of the worst memories I have of remodeling our house, yuck!
This is so beautiful. Although I have never scraped off wallpaper and I don't like the idea so I have rarely used it. 🙂
WOW! This is beautiful…what a great alternative.
When I bought my house I scraped dated wallpaper off EVERY SINGLE ROOM – it took months. I'm with you on the post-traumatic wallpaper syndrome. 🙂
I have it too! I was a wallpaper scraper in this house and I didn't think it would ever come off!
I love this look! What a great job she did. I can't believe she drew it all on and then painted it in! That is patience.
Love this!
Lovely! She is both crafty and patient!
really great job! looks beautiful and restful. 🙂
that looks so elegant! and yes, taking down wallpaper means never putting it up again! Great alternative!

BEAUTIFUL! too bad i dont think i can do that without messing up. looks great!
Wow! Nicole has supreme patience! What an awesome job! I have nightmares about wallpaper! I still have one more wallpaper removal project and have been the Queen of Procrastination. I walk into the room, look at it, shudder and leave the room. The former owners of my little abode went wallpaper crazy! It was not a pretty thing and it was even uglier when I began removing it. We are talking layers upon layers of wallpaper…

What kind of paper do you use as your stencil? I've heard freezer paper works…anyone have any suggestions?
So nice! Great job, I've been wanting to do stencil work in my daughters room just waiting for the day I have time. Its obviously worth the work!
