Fall Festival – Week #9

The DIY Show Off

Busy week for me so no DIY Fall projects to share from me personally, but I went through all of the previous Fall Festivals and here are some of my favorites from Fall Festivals #1 through #5.5. Next week will be Fall Festival #10 and the last …my mind is on finishing some DIY home improvement and Christmas! I will recap the rest of my Fall Festival favorites next week. I’d love to see some Thanksgiving inspiration if you have it! Then…since Christmas is my favorite time of year, I’d love to host another fun party. What do you think?

Thank you to everyone for participating and making the Fall Festival so much fun. I love all of your creative ideas and decorative touches!

Fall Festival – Week #8

Do you have a fall post to share this week? I‘d love to see it! I don’t have a fall/Halloween DIY project to share this week as I have been working on redoing our main bathroom and our German exchange student has arrived. 🙂 She’s so sweet. Today while the guys were watching football, we made a trip to the pumpkin patch. Here is a picture of her (middle) with my daughters:

Ali, Julia and Bri

Did you know Julia is pronounced “Yulia” in German?

And I picked up a few pumpkins and Indian corn…

Fall Festival – Week #7

Time for the Fall Festival! I decorated the grape arbor for Halloween. It didn’t look spooky until I edited the pictures using the “time machine and 1839” effect. Now it’s scary! (If you click to enlarge the picture, you can see more detail.)

I wish I could capture a photo of how beautiful the arbor is at night time.
This is the best I could do. There isn’t enough light to use my camera but I took this with my cell phone.

It was also my lucky week! I won a few things and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am. I LOVE presents (who doesn’t?). Here are some of the things I won.

I won a beautiful quilt from

Sweet Jeanette

I can’t decide if I want to use it every day as a lap blanket at my desk (I’m always cold) or display it. It’s the first real quilt I’ve ever owned. I love it! THEN there were more presents in the box! I’m using the sweet snack tray as a centerpiece.

And the cutest little pumpkin – look at the stem! It’s a roofing nail. I love little treasures like this, don’t you?
Thank you so much Jeanette. They don’t call you sweetjeanette for nothing!

I also won two beautiful candles from Christy at Domestic Princess. I could smell them before I opened the box! I had them in my office for a week and the entire room smelled wonderful. One is lilac (my favorite) and the other is lavender. I decided to create a little Halloween vignette in my powder room and they’re the perfect touch, don’t you think? Thank you so much Christy! These candles are awesome! Here they are in my powder room:

I received an email from Meaghan about her very inexpensive and super CUTE project. Here it is:

I wanted to share a really cheap Halloween craft I just completed. I don’t have a before of the plate because I lost the charger for the battery for my camera, but the plate is just a really heavy duty tin plate I picked up from the dollar store (just $1). The total cost of this was a dollar and some change. I took two plates from the dollar store and sprayed them with Rustoleum white spray paint that I already had from previous projects. Then I went the computer, googled some Halloween silhouettes that I liked, printed them out, cut them out, traced them on the plates, then used some black paint I also already had and traced them in. I think they are pretty cute and the only thing I had to buy were 2 $2 plates! I think I’m going to do a few for Christmas too!

Meaghan – your DIY Halloween plates are so cute, so easy and cheap – with awesome results. Thanks so much for sharing!
