Thanksgiving Highlights and the DIY Fall Festival

Thanksgiving is one week from today. Time flies.  We won’t mention the countdown to the next holiday.  It makes me panic.  But, in honor of Thanksgiving next week…here are some Thanksgiving highlights from last week’s DIY Fall Festival.
First, there were some delicious looking, mouth watering dessert recipes and if you’re looking for a great idea, here is the link:  Fall Desserts.

Beautiful.  My inspiration for next year when I have a mantel in the dining room!
Another stunning Thanksgiving table…

And a Thanksgiving chalkboard from Finding Home Online.  I love the Fall quote and what a beautiful chalkboard and frame.  (Dear Santa…)

The DIY Show Off practices courteous blog etiquette.  If you’re linking up to the parties at the DIY Show Off, please share a link in your post back to the party so your readers can see all of the great DIY ideas linked.  It’s not fair when almost everyone does it correctly (sharing the entire party including all links) and a few don’t share.  I haven’t been very strict with the rules but I do notice when a blogg
er links up and readers head over to see your awesome-ness and it’s one-sided.  Please party nice.  If you’re not familiar with linky parties, please feel free to ask for help at thediyshowoff@gmail.com.  Thank you!  🙂

Thanksgiving Tablescape and DIY Fall Festival

Given that our house is a DIY project-in-progress in several rooms type of disaster (my dining room included), we didn’t offer to host Thanksgiving dinner this year (thankful for that).  No doors on the kitchen cupboards, sawdust and tools, paint cans and piles are not the ingredients for an inviting, warm Thanksgiving atmosphere. However, last week I just had to take a moment when Mr. DIY wasn’t looking to do something pretty.  So, I set about setting the table for a pretend Thanksgiving dinner.  A little dining room table harvest dress up…

I was just standing back to admire and tweaking here and there.  Re-arranging and dreaming of candlelight, swirling scents of roast turkey, cranberries and pumpkin pie and happy smiling guests…

Orange, bronze and white with turquoise blues…

My burlap wreath (tutorial here) has a new seasonal position as pumpkin partner and is decorated with tucked mini pinecones and pumpkins…

And then Mr. DIY yelled, “I can’t do this project with Martha Stewart all over the dining room!!!” and before I could perfect it, before I could finish decorating or place silverware, napkins and placecards, I had to put my decorative pretties away, clear the workspace and grab a Dremel tool (after I snuck in snapping a few photos – just for blog’s sake and in order to show you a light turquoise/orange/bronze and white color scheme).
The end.
