I‘m posting the DIY Project Parade early today since I’ll be celebrating the end of my third decade of life and beginning of the 4th. Today is the eve of my 40th birthday. Part of me wants to throw an “I can’t be 40!” tantrum. But, I’m trying to embrace it – what a blessed milestone! I’ll be holding a little giveaway later this week so you have a chance to win a present so check back!
As you know, I’ve been working on my livingroom. I have the walls painted, the photo wall done,
new curtain rods and the curtains lengthened,
the built-in shelving organized
and the other day I spent $ at Lowe’s for these plans:

Here was my inspiration and I apologize that I have NO idea where I borrowed this picture from. If you know – please let me know so I can give proper credit. If it’s you – thank you for inspiring me! Mine isn’t going to be this pretty. We have brick instead of a black insert and no cute little built-in hearth-seat thingy but still, this inspires me to build ours up to the ceiling.
It’s also the project that is going to help me get over my fear and teach me how to use the miter saw. I am almost 40 after all! I’m excited!

Happy Birthday!! I love your blog!I came across it on another blog.
Your botanical wall art came out great. I am doing a simular one in my living room. I have the frames, I am just waiting on a book.
Also, I have a simular fireplace like your design. It was wood when we moved in and I painted it white. I still want to paint the brick white or tile it. I haven't decided yet. :O) You can see some pics here.

My Husband wrapped our brick fireplace with wood, and added decorative tile to the face. Looks awesome! As long as you keep vents open it's not a fire hazard.
