I love pretty, soothing spa-like rooms. I picture vacation resorts and sunny skies. Especially when this is what my weather forecast predicts this:
and my gutters look like this:
Check out the change Jessica from Vanilla Bean made to her powder room. Feel the sunshine?
BeforeAfterThe vessel sink, faucet and tiles all came from Home Depot. The total cost ended up being more than I anticipated, with a majority of it being the sink and faucet. I’ve been wanting a sink like this for ages, so I’m not complaining!
We primed the vanity with Kilz before putting on two coats of black paint. Once it was dry, I took my handsander to the edges. Just a bit of white paint and the original wood now show through. While we splurged on the vanity, we saved on the decor. This frame is from the Goodwill. I got it for $1 and spray painted it black. The starfish is from Hawaii, where J we got
married. Look familiar? We used it for this photo of our wedding rings. The framed photos are from a trip we took to Destin.
My shabby oar finally found the perfect home! I picked it up from The White Rabbit a couple of years ago for $35. The vase was previously in the kitchen, but fits perfectly here now!I think my favorite part is the color. It is Tropical Lagoon from Glidden. It is like a Tiffany/Robin’s Egg blue. Simply perfect!
This ice and snow jellyfish is the closest thing we’ll have to the beach. 🙁
Ohhhh, the irony. I had tried a sample of Glidden Deepest Aqua on my bathroom for the last week, and finally decided it was too dark, and last night was the final day of the sale at Home Depot (Glidden for $14.97/gallon) so I chose Tropical Lagoon for my master bath without having a sample of it first. Worried about it all night. Woke up this morning, saw this post and was like "I love that color, what is it?" then I read Tropical Lagoon. whew. I think its going to be juuuuuuust fine. Thank you for such a timely post! 😉
I love the color! The bathroom is a perfect reminder of beach getaways
I love the bathroom and being from the outter banks this is a trip back home. However, my favorite thing about this posting is the map. My parents are stationed in Southern Maryland with 30" of snow…they will love this map.
love that powder room re-do, but am really NOT liking that weather forecast, since I'm in DC. is that for THIS weekend? lord help me, I might just pack up and move to Hawaii after this snowy winter.
I love beach decor. And that wall color!
I left you an award on my blog!
LOL at the map pic!
This is a cute bathroom, love the color!
gorgeous! I love the wall color!
HA! That map is hysterical! I love that wall color–so pretty. And I love the idea of "framing" the starfish. I have something similar and this is a great way to show it off. But how did she get the starfish to actually hang? Is it on the wall?
beautiful. just beautiful. love the colors.
Amber-the starfish is hanging by a small nail. There is a small indentation in the back of it that makes it perfect to hang.
Thanks!
Love the powder room makeover, everything looks fantastic. Sorry about the cold weather!
So pretty! love the detail in the vanity!
So pretty! love the detail in the vanity!
Your bathroom came out lovely. I chose a similar color for ours and almost a matching faucet! You can check it out at: http://robertapm28.blogspot.com/2008/10/housekeeping-half-bath-remodel.html
Great bathroom redo. I really like the tiny tile counter. That's a beautiful picture of the wedding rings – I hope she has that framed somewhere in her home – gorgeous!
LOVE your map AND the jellyfish – good eye on that one.
Happy Friday!
Southern Fried Gal
Very nice…, love the color and the oar!
Lmbo!! That is tooooo funny. My hubby is in NY for the week on vacay. I'm sure they already hit the liquor store!
The bathroom color looks so good with the dark wood and lighter sink. Nice touch with the starfish too.
Yeah, I live under the bubble that states, "you are totatlly SCREWED"….lucky me. Better rain then more snow. Finally saw a small hint of grass this afternoon after getting about 50 inches of snow in one week.
