Since I happen to be addicted to browsing the aisles at Michaels fairly often, when I saw the beautiful rustic letters, I envisioned replacing the thrift store find of a gloomy stormy ocean painting above the fireplace (which I do love) to something a little more fun for spring.
LOVE wall art
What I used:
- rustic eclectic L-O-V-E letters
- linen canvases with antiqued bronze nailhead trim
- hot glue
- adhesive velcro strips (for hanging)
- FrogTape® for leveling/mapping out placement
What I did: Pretty simple! I attached the letters to the stretched linen canvases by applying a generous layer of hot glue to the back of each letter. It doesn’t get much easier than that for DIY!
Hanging tips: I used my level and a pencil to make a light ‘cross’ (vertical/horizontal) line in the center of the area I wanted to display my canvases. Using FrogTape, I created an evenly spaced guide and secured my canvases to the wall using adhesive velcro. Then removed the tape.
Perfect for Valentine’s day a few weeks ago, appropriate for all year long, any season! I love the fun chippy antique-looking letters with our rustic fireplace surround with just a touch of color to freshen up the neutral tones.

Beautiful.
These letters are absolutely adorable! Did they come pre-made like this from Michaels? I clicked the link, but no letters were there. If you made them from materials they have there, I’d love to know how – they are so pretty! Mauri @ http://www.theamericanpatriette.com
Hi Mauri, supplies from Michaels (in 2016). Those exact supplies aren’t available but hopefully it inspires a version of the same project. 😉
