It’s calling for snow here. The warmer temps were just a tease. Snow for me means staying at home. Just some quick, easy ideas for motivation all to start somewhere small this weekend to accomplish something productive. For me, it always leads to bigger things. Taking 15 minutes to do one of these, almost always inspires me to work a little longer and accomplish a little more. Here is what works for me:
- Clean off the kitchen counters. Before I know it, I’m scrubbing things down, sweeping the floor, wiping down the fridge. I love a clean kitchen.
- Sort through a junk drawer. Organize chaotic papers and receipts, put ‘quick clean shoved’ items where they belong. Having everything where it belongs feels so good.
- Make the bed. In our home, this doesn’t happen daily but taking a minute to make the bed = picking up clothes, dusting and rearranging decor. I love when that happens!
- Actually look at craft supplies and materials, then browse Pinterest for an idea. Time to get creative!
Do you have do-it-yourself plans this weekend? I do! Mine involves primer and paint. How about you?
I need to step away from the paint and focus on getting some stuff up on our walls. We’ll also be sanding down paint from the chair rail that we removed, eventually repaint the bottom portion of the wall (can’t get away from paint 🙂 and add chalkboard paint to the wall.
Crystal 🙂
I can’t wait to see it, Crystal! I always love when the ‘work’ part is done and the reward of decorating and getting things in place happens! 😉 Have a great weekend!

I’m trying out a recipe for DIY chalk paint on a coffee table, can’t wait to see how it turns out!
Good luck, Sunday! I cannot wait to see it! Is it DIY chalk paint or chalkboard paint? I just know it’s going to be fabulous! 🙂
We’ve got snow here today too. So my plan is to hunker down and finish painting the guest bathroom.
Ooohh! Can’t wait to see it, Heather! I’ve got about 5 projects going. A little DIY ADD this weekend. lol Good luck! Enjoy the weekend!
Hi! Is that your bedroom? It is SOOO pretty! I can hardly stand how cute it is.
Amy
Thanks, Amy! It’s actually our guest bedroom. Why is it the master bedroom is the last room to fix up? Probably because no one really sees it. And our bed wasn’t made…so no pictures. lol You can see more of the guest bedroom reveal here: https://diyshowoff.com/2011/10/guest-bedroom-reveal-and-100-bhg-giveaway.html
Have a great weekend! I’m so glad you stopped by! 🙂
You are so right about one thing leading to a bigger cleaning. I don’t daily make our bed either, and when I do I always have to tidy the rest of the room because the bed looking good inspires me to want the whole room to look good. For some reason my husband always thinks it might be a “special” night if the bed is made. Why I don’t know, just how his mind works I guess!
~Bliss~
LOL, Bliss! I know what you mean! Our master bedroom is actually still a disaster, even when clean. I think once we get around to giving it a makeover (we haven’t done anything since we bought our house to that room)…then I’ll want to make the bed because the room will be pretty. For now, even making the bed isn’t going to help. Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy the weekend!!!
My weekend is all about the diy … and the nail gun … and moulding! I’m on a roll and am determined to get my son’s room redo done this weekend! (Well, at least the BIG stuff and then can focus on the details … )
🙂
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Right now we have a fresh layer of slushy snow on the ground here in Chicago …
Linda
OoOohhh, Linda! That sounds fun! I’m so eager to see the reveal! It’s a great weekend for getting the big stuff out of the way then bring on the fun part!
Please don’t send that slushy snow this way. It’s still just overcast skies here. I know that weather is heading east to PA, isn’t it? ::sob:: I’m so ready for spring! (Last week’s weather was my kind of February!)
Have a great weekend!
Making a porch swing….should probably remember to tell my husband about that….
That’s so cool, Katie!!! lol! My husband sometimes doesn’t know what’s going on either. Good luck! Can’t wait to see it! Have a great weekend!
For ill or for good, I am going to try to tie-dye my king sized bedskirt this weekend. 🙂 Could be awe-inspiring or could be disaster. We shall see! That guest room is gorgeous btw!
Good luck, Dharma! Sounds awesome! Have a great weekend!
I’m home alone all weekend and the first part of next week, so I have a few things planned for this weekend. I need to sand down and do a quick spray paint job on a mirror that we were given. I need to finish painting my office lamp too.
We will see how motivated I am after spin class.
Alone time = productivity, right? At least I think…maybe not, especially after spin class. The mirror sounds fabulous! Have a great weekend, Emily!
im priming and painting as well 😉 and waiting for some wallpaper i ordered to finish project so probably wont be complete till next wkend
happy painting 8+)
I’ve been having “Organization Weekends” lately … I reorganized my cabinets. Amazing what actually cooking in the Kitchen will do to your Kitchen Arrangement. I cleaned and re organized my closet this past weekend. I’m a witness … getting organized WILL make you feel even-better.
