Vintage windows catch my attention every time. Our barn is full of the original windows from this old farmhouse yet when I spot them at a yardsale, I’m piling them in my car! I’m addicted. Remember when I did this post for vintage window ideas? Well, here are some more ideas from creative readers., Whitney and Katie. Click the links to visit the original post (send my love while you’re there!).
A window frame from Whitney at Our Sweet Story…
Old vintage windows usually sell for $1 to $10 at yard sales, salvage shops, etc. Back with burlap, add precious photos and hang. Instant art!
I love this! I’ve been taking a lot of photos in my family lately. Must.do.this. Thanks for the inspiration, Whitney. It looks easy and it’s a beautiful photo display!
Katie from Not Just Decorating had this clever idea for a menu board…
$5 window from Habitat.
This is 40″ by 40″ and fills a huge empty wall in her kitchen.
Total Cost: $10!
Window: $5
Picture Hangers: $2.25
Scrapbook paper and hangers: $3
Katie added hooks to the bottom to hang her aprons. Love the details!
Isn’t that pretty? I love that it’s functional and for $10 – a large statement on a big bare wall. Great job, Katie! I love the pretty paper and that it’s also an really quick, easy, inexpensive project!
Editing to add this awesome Halloween project from Pattie at on HollyHock Farm!

Happy Fall! I have been making old windows into art for different seasons. I have made 2 for Halloween as shown in my recent post..http://myblog-bratti.blogspot.com/2010/09/another-view-to-halloween.html
I hope you visit it. I love your blog.

Just gorgeous. The little antique shop in town has an old window sitting out there. I might have to snag that now unless she wants a fortune for it 😉
What a clever idea. I have been working on a children's playroom and this would be a great alternative for framing children's artwork. You can easily change out the artwork as they create new pieces. Love it!

Love those ideas! I'm a sucker for old windows. I recently bought 2 at a garage sale and made them into a headboard. You can check it out here: http://thecoppercoconut.blogspot.com/2010/08/window-frame-headboard.html
I love these! I have a bunch of windows from Habitat – I didn't have a plan, but they were only $2! You can't pass that up 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration!
I love the burlap picture window. I'm going to have to do that!
Great post! I love the ideas. I hung a coffee filter wreath over an old window…

So glad to see that I wasn't the only one that thought buying an old window was a good idea. I also made mine into wall art for our bedroom. You can see it here: http://photographybyamberblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/something-old-something-new.html
I too love old windows. I did a post about a wall that I filled with old windows and an old barn screen door from my inlaws farm. Such fun!!

We need dog updates! With pictures! Ann
Ohhhhh, I love these. I have a vintage window in Texas (in storage) that I miss sooooo much. Aren't they lovely to decorate with? I used it instead of the bottom portion of a curtain in my kitchen window. It was great to let sun through, but provided privacy.
LOVE old windows. Did you know we were in the window, siding, door business for many years? Yes we were! I scooped up a lot of very neat old windows when people replaced them with energy efficient ones. I used them in lots of places, including a blank wall on a neighbors garage…painted black on the inside and attached to the siding with window boxes underneath. Hmmmm…I should probably see if I could do a post about that!
BTW-I have a free magazine drawing over on my blog if you are at all interested- Hugs- Diana
I love these ideas! Thank you so much for sharing. I just finished a window project, too. It's actually a small door, but thanks to inspiring projects I've seen here before, I knew I had to grab it up when I saw one of my neighbors was throwing it out. I used it to create a pretty photo frame for our girls' room.
