Maria at
sent over her pretty bedroom makeover. Painting the furniture made a huge impact and I love her silhouette art and beautiful pillows. Check it out:
DIY Bedroom Makeover
Welcome to our bedroom! Just about everything was a DIY project. My husband’s biggest request is we had to keep the brown comforter. I wanted to get a new bedroom set but we couldn’t afford to replace any of the furniture. So, after I got help choosing a color palette, this is what I came up with.BEFOREAFTER
The biggest project was painting all furniture and replacing the hardware. Here is a better picture of the night-stand. I took step-by-step photos of painting one of the drawers. Would that be helpful or is it pretty self-explanatory?BEFOREAFTER
Here is how I did the candle wraps. I really love how it turned out. I wish my photos were better. It is such a nice, relaxing place now.BEFOREAFTER
Follow these links for the large silhouette artwork, the smaller framed art, and the pillows. I used the same pillow covers for the large pillows but I adjusted the size.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful makeover, Maria! I love how the furniture now pops against your mocha colored walls and the blue and brown accent everything perfectly! Great job!
In my world everything should be painted white! LOL!
That looks fabulous!

That is absolutely STUNNING! It must have taken ages to paint all your beautiful furniture. It`s very interesting but here in Scotland, we would hardly ever paint over all that beautiful wood and you`re very brave to attempt it and be so successful at it. A true inspiration.Thank you very much for sharing.
Great job, i love what you did with the dresser.
Wow what a change. Very fresh looking! Great job!
Gorgeous! I LOVE the silhouette frame with your heads. What a great idea for a master bedroom!
Oh my–what an amazing difference and wonderful change! Great job!!!

I love it!! The white really brightens things up now and the colors look great today. Great job!!
Thank you so much for the feature and everyone for your comments. You are too kind. It was pretty scary to paint over wood but I really hated the darkness and dated speckles. Paint was definitely the way to go.
She did a great job! It looks awesome!
How did you prep the wood before you painted it?

Kat from California — I did a step-by-step with photos showing how I prepped and painting the furniture <a href="http://yayimadeit.blogspot.com/2010/07/painting-furniture.html>here</a>. Hope that helps.
Wow it looks so much better after!
I love this! I'm going for the same type of look (i.e., peaceful, relaxing, soothing colors, and pops of white against a painted wall), so this is definitely inspiring me to finish everything.
Love it – I'm going through a similar exercise to paint our bedroom furniture white, as well as appease Beloved Husband who finds all the turmoil very unnerving!
