Repurpose
First I want to share a repurposing project. Repurposed Christmas tree fencing (from Ballard).
Mr. DIY and I both trip over the dog gate in an attempt to climb over it. We have a dachshund who isn’t allowed on the wool area rug in the living room (allergies) unless we’re there to supervise “no rolling around”. She has short legs and she’s a big chicken. So, now these iron cast fence pieces act as our new dog gate.
They are only 4.5 inches high. She can jump up on the couch but she won’t even attempt to hurdle these. Perfect! No more spilling my cup of tea or falling face forward (quite a sight) while trying to maneuver a gate with my arms full! BUT now until we remember there is a tiny cast iron fence, we’re soothing stubbed toes. Ouch! So, almost perfect!
Thrifty Treasures
Here is a glass lamp I grabbed for $5 also at a yard sale! Woo hoo! Open bottom so I can swap out decorative accessories. I love it!
DIY
Update from last week. The bistro set has been relocated to the patio. More seating required and I love it here (of course I’m always rearranging). And now I will have to come up with something else for under the grape arbor. 🙂

Now about my DIY project this week (besides painting walls). My daughter picked out this thrifty treasure – little camp chair at a yard sale for $1. Very dirty but with a new seat, it’s good as new. I love how it folds up real easy and requires little space to store it.
BEFORE- old and dirty!
I just removed the staples and old fabric.
I used the old seat as a guide to making a new one, cutting the same shape/size and sewing the raw edges using left over fabric from another project. The old seat had a seam in the middle and I’m not sure why but just in case it helped make it less likely to tear, I sewed a seam down the middle of the new one too.
Then, I chose a beautiful French inspired transfer from Olive Rue to complete the look. So easy! So pretty! So affordable! Print (mirror image) and iron-on.
I stapled the fabric back into place.
And here is the new little fold up camp chair. Love it!

OMG, trip back memory lane, I have NOT seen one of those camp chairs in YEARS!!!! What a fab find!
I love all her graphics. I've had her marked as my favorite for awhile!
But if I have to pick one, I like the bee one. Our wastecan in the master bath has a bee on it and if I can find a vintage vanity chair I would like to recover it with a bee graphic on it!
xxoo
Okay that gate is far too funny!!! Our big old german shepherd/boxer won't go near a plastic shopping bag so when we don't want to chase her we just put a bag on a doorknob in the hall. She won't dare go near it.
I love the black starfish print! so pretty. But all her stuff is great.
The lamp is great, Roeshel. I love the fact that you can easily change out what's inside.
I would like to invite you to visit the cottage, and join in on the fun for all three of my linky parties:

Hello sweet Roeshel – what a fabulous post! I love that lamp. I've never seen one that has an open bottom! How fun to switch out your decor. I like the starfish in there! And your chair project turned out so awesome. Love the image you chose. It's perfect.
Oh how I enjoy Olive Rue! That shop makes me drool. I'd have one of every image, but the one that makes me smile is the Birds in a Cage. How fab it would look on just about anything!

That tiny fence is a hoot! Cute little dog!
I don't know which is more adorable, your camp stool makeover (love the compass!) or your sweet pupster looking through the tiny fence? 🙂 Too CUTE!!
Love the Queen Bee!

Awww, your little pup is too cute! Hehe 🙂

Meet Virginia!
Meet Virginia!!
Meet Virginia!!!
I love no. 1014 bird in cage, no. 1112 bird and teacups, no. 151, no. 1031 Fleur de lis
Oh how I'd love to win Crystal's gift certificate, I could use her bonjour bee download to make my linen chair covers!! How perfect would that be?!!
Thanks for the great party, love that little camp stool re-do!
xo,
Debra
I like the vintage compass. I very jealous of the lamp find–love it!!
Wow her store is so fun! If I had to chose just one favorite it would be the tea cups and little bird! So cute!
That little fence cracks me up and that your little dachshund is deterred by it. A little fence like that would not keep my 4 weenies out of a room. I live with baby gates. Straddling baby gates is an every day occurrence in my home. I think this is a fantastic idea…using that little iron fence. I wonder how many times you'll stub your toe on it though.
Your little pup is sooooo cute!
I really like the Fleur de Lis No. 1031, and do plan to order several of her images.
Enjoy your blog!
I love it all, but I think my favorite is the Cherish one with the two little angels 'cause it reminds me of my two little angels. 🙂
I love Olive Rue — I just added her to my Etsy favorites list! I would like to make something out of the typewriter keyboard graphics because of my copywriting background. I collect anything "typewriter."
Thanks for the chance at this nice giveaway.
Also, would you consider a post telling us more about your little dachshund? I think they're adorable, but have heard some of them have that distinctive hound smell.

I got so tickled that your little pup won't go over that bitty fence…how cute! SHE's precious!
Wow, what a neat chair! I'm inspired! Thanks for hosting. I've linked back and left a comment about your giveway.

LOVE the camp stool! The iron on just took it up about a hundred notches!
I got a good chuckle out of your little dog fence. 🙂
I would love to purchase some of the iron on's and also some of the vintage tags!!!

I'm so sorry I posted twice…I linked up incorrectly on the first one and didn't find a way to delete it. The 2nd one is linked correctly.

What an adorable little 4 legged sweetie! I help my friend groom sometimes and she has a client with 2 doxies. I just love 'em.
And thanks for the giveaway! If I had a choice I would get the queen bee. I love that one.
I love your camp chair makeover! So cute! Oh my goodness, It's impossible for me to pick a favorite Olive Rue design, but among the favorites, are the words with the crown & scrolled design, and Bon Appetit with the silverware. All of them are gorgeous! wilmabeach@juno.com
My favorite is the dachshund download. I have two dachshunds so of course I am partial.
sambalaya10@yahoo.com
My favorite is the dachshund.

I love the "Girlfriends on the Beach" photos. They would be great for a summer-inspired cottage project!
Well I love the image you used but then I saw the starfish and shells and love those too!
I wish that gate would keep my german shepherd out, but then again she would just eat it.
Beautiful work! My favorite is this one http://www.etsy.com/listing/46270593/digital-download-no-1118-vintage.
Thanks for giving me inspiration daily!

What gorgeous images! I love Roses at the Beach.
I tweeted the giveaway @TammyMalone
ooo I like the Parisian bird on a chandelier – very pretty!
I have been a fan of hers for awhile now.She is marked a fave shop for me and I love to go thru and look at all of her graphics and daydream abt what ones I want and what I would do wit them. It is hard to choose just any one fave. I love the bees, the crowns, and of course the prints with the french roosters!
Thanx for offering up a great give away! Keeping fingers crossed!
I actually really like the compass, but if I had to pick another I'd say the starfish print as well. I can think of so many places these kinds of prints could go in the house!
You can find me at The Ugly Duckling House if/when I win!
That gate is too cute! Love your camp chair. This was my first visit to Olive Rue! I love all her sea life prints but especially the starfish. I have now saved Olive Rue as a favorite because I will definitely be going back. After seeing the sea life prints, I have ideas for Sean's nursery.
Thanks!
~ Tracy
I tweeted your giveaway @uglyducklingDIY
