Hi! I’m Roeshel, DIY enthusiast and blogger at DIYShowOff.com. Welcome to my online home! It’s so nice to “e-meet” you! We live in the Butler (north of Pittsburgh, PA) area. I’m a wife, mom to two grown girls adjusting to an empty nest and new grandma to one cute little guy. Online, my blog lives in the home DIY and decorating niche. Welcome, friends!
I’ve always had a passion for DIY, being creative, re-purposing things, designing and decorating my spaces. A limited budget challenges me to be creative. Blogging evolved from a journal of our DIY before/after transformations into a full time career. I’m often asked what’d I’ll write about once our home is complete. Fortunately, we have an entire farmhouse full of projects that will take us a lifetime. I have an eclectic mix of styles and just do what I love to create a home that reflects our personalities, interests and lifestyle.
Creating a beautiful home is more than just decorating a pretty room. Start by creating a healthy environment for your family. All the creative cosmetic DIY projects don’t mean a thing if our home is toxic. Essential oils are making a big difference. With Roeshel’s recent family history changing to include what feels like an epidemic in cancer along with an employment history in the health care, specifically oncology, she’s super driven to change the world, one home at a time. Join Roeshel in taking the first steps to a healthier lifestyle, a chemical free home, making new friends and an inspired, healthier happy you! Visit HERE for more info or click the button below to learn more about my other passion: Young Living essential oils and working to create a chemical free, healthy home for my family.
I’ve been blessed to work from home as a full time blogger for the past 8 years {you can read more about my blogging story here}, meeting new creative blog buddies, sharing awesome before & afters and DIY home improvement and decorating. I’m addicted and active in the blog community and love encouraging and supporting blog friends and readers who share my passion for do-it-yourself projects. I hope you find some inspiration for your next do it yourself project. Dream.Create.Inspire.Share {or as we say around here “show off”}.
Welcome to a blog dedicated to showing it all off! 🙂
See where we’ve been featured – I’m so thankful for the opportunities blogging has given us. We’re honored to have several favorite magazine features and awesome website shout outs. Dream.come.true!
I am so grateful for each follower, the awesome DIY bloggers who share their projects and all of your sweet, encouraging and supportive comments. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m so glad you’re here!

I found you by following a pin on pinterest of an organizing board. Can you tell me where I could find the info on that? Enjoy all you ideas and tips… thankyou!
Hi Brenda! I’m not sure…here’s my Organization pin board, if that helps: http://pinterest.com/diyshowoff/organization-and-storage/. 🙂
Hello! I am trying to figure out EXACTLY what your paint colors are on the walls in your kitchen and the little sitting area of your lovely home. I think they are the perfect blue/grey… I have tried to figure out the brand and color by searching around on your site, but there is SOOO much awesomeness that I get distracted and end up not being able to locate the information. Would you be willing to email me your kitchen and the sitting area? I am looking for the color name and brand.
Thank you so much for sharing your talents with those of us wanna be Roechels! 🙂
Blessings, — Jill Welch
HI Jill! LOL! Sorry for the distractions…well, maybe not. I’m glad you stopped by and looked around! 😉
Here are the colors (and a link that shows them going on the wall).
Kitchen is True Value’s Easy Care Platinum brand. Color is “Old Fashioned”. https://diyshowoff.com/2011/04/kitchen-progress-and-a-help-me-decorate-my-kitchen-poll.html
Sitting room is Dutch Boy’s Ypsilanti Skies.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
Wow. It was uncanny to see someone with such similar taste as my own–right down to what I’m pretty sure is the Smith and Hawken basket from Target that I just bought last week! Your home is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Thanks for sharing your inspiration. Oh, and your husband must be handy to have around!
Hi Roeshel, I was so excited to see that you became my first official follower of my blog….(happy dance) I am now a follower of your site and love to see inspiring ideas. I will be sure to visit often. Thanks again!
Hi Roeshel! Thanks for stopping at my blog and becoming a new follower!!
I love your site!!! I am a new follower and so glad I stumbled upon your blog 🙂 I am dying to know where I can get a rug like the one in the stairwell makeover? It looks like a bamboo rug with printed words on it
Thanks, Stephanie! So nice to “e=meet” YOU! I’m not sure if it’s still available (it goes on sale off and on) but I got it from here: http://wuslu.com/?product=display&pid=16351. You have to be a member to buy, but there’s a place to join on that link. Although beware! It’s addicting and there are DAILY emails that make you want to buy everyday! haha!
Hi Stephanie! I could have sworn I answered this but don’t see my reply. Sorry for the delay. I got the rug at WUSLU (addicting site…must join and they send daily specials – so dangerous! lol!). It doesn’t look like it’s available right now but sometimes they come back up for grabs: http://wuslu.com/?product=display&pid=16351. 🙂
Love all your pictures. Was shocked at how young you are…I thought with all of the projects you have completed that you were probably 110!
Thanks, Eva! lol! I feel old sometimes! I’m not ‘that’ young! 😉
I’m SO glad you stopped by! Thank you! It’s so nice to “e-meet” you!
I’m a new follower! I love your site. Ill be checking back weekly to look at your new posts. Thanks for all the ideas and great tips!!!
Hi Amanda! So nice to “e-meet” you! I’m so glad you stopped by and are following along! 🙂 Have a great night!

I love love love your blog and style. We bought a 100 year old house and are constantly completing projects to making it our own one day at a time. Wondering where the white horse you have featured on your bookshelves in the most current pictures is from..I adore it and have been looking for one for months…any ideas where I could find one?! Thanks!
Thanks, Megan! Unfortunately it’s been years and I don’t remember where it came from. 🙁 Knowing me, probably TJMaxx.
This is the closest thing I could find: http://dyhomedecor.com/Default.asp?UID=80FDF73FBF0446CEAD8724264C7E29C6. Still a bit pricey, I think. Maybe keep your eyes open for a thrift store statue or even toy and give it a coat of glossy white spray paint? Good luck! 🙂
Thanks, that one is super cute. I frequent Marshalls and TJMaxx weekly along with the thrift stores so I’ll keep looking:) Maybe I’ll break down and buy the expensive one…lol. Keep up the great blog work, you have such talent!
Sounds like we have a lot in common – that’s my weekly shopping route too! haha! Thanks, Megan. Good luck!!
I found you by following a pin on pinterest love your blog
Hi-I just adore your blog! I am very new to this and I just started a blog myself. I wish to joint a link party or enter a contest but do not know how to. I googled it and nothing came up. Any quick & easy tips on how I might do this? Thank you so much
Hi Nina! I’m not sure what you’re asking. To enter the weekly linky party here, there are instructions in every post. But if you’re wanting to know something else or need specific help, please email me at thediyshowoff@gmail.com and I’d be glad to try to help! 🙂 Welcome to blogging!!!
Roeshel
I love the new look!!! Your blog looks gorgeous with the new colors. I am holding off on that zinc topped table tutorial. Will come up with something better. In the meantime, I am trying to convince one of my followers to send you hers! It is such a great tutorial on how to wrap a table top with zinc. The end result is gorgeous. You should go see it!

Hi there! New here and am looking around. Love your blog! Can’t wait to find out more. Instead of a DIYer, I am more of a HMHDIer – That’s Have My Husband Do It – but we have some very nice projects. I’ll see if he will let me post them. He’s pretty shy about that but he does a wonderful job!
Welcome, Kelli! It’s so nice to ‘e-meet’ you! LOL! I have my husband handle big things that require muscle. I look forward to seeing your projects! Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Roeshel! I just found your site and can’t stop visiting it!! There is so much to see and I love your style. We are preparing to build a country farmhouse. Even though it will be new, I hope it has alot of the old charm. I’m not a decorator so I’ll have to pull in help here and there. But I sew, craft – just not too good with woodwork. But I’ll try alot of things. I wished my husband liked this kind of a thing but he doesn’t -but I still wouldn’t trade him for the world! In the future I’m sure I’ll have alot of questions. Now back to your site!!
Thanks, Chris! Oh, you can’t tease me like that. You’re going to have to start a blog or share those pictures of your brand new farmhouse! 😉 And I do a lot of the projects myself, bringing in the muscle (husband) when needed so I have faith in you. You’re off to a good start with sewing and crafting! I learn as I go too. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hi Roeshel (I just LOVE your name!), I just found your blog via pinterest and I am so happy to have come to see you! Thanks for sharing and hosting at the same time. Your blog is very inspiring and I will follow you gladly! Have a nice Sunday (without getting fooled today…). Greets, Manu
Hi Roeshel! Connected to your blog via Twitter, and am now a follower via my own new blog. Saw on your mini profile that you are just north of Pittsburgh. Small world! I’m just west in Beaver! Enjoying reading your posts, and look forward to finding more inspiration for my blog and decorating my home from them.
Awesome! Welcome to blogging! It’s nice to”e-meet” you! Maybe we’ll get to meet since we’re practically neighbors! {I’m planning/hosting two events this summer.} If there’s anything I can help with – just let me know! I’ve been blogging for quite a while (7 years!) and I’m still learning something new everyday. lol 🙂 xoxo
As a first time visitor to your site, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring! It was also amazing to see your posts in real life today. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home today on the Butler Symphony House tour. The Symphony Board and the community appreciate your generosity. It was also wonderful to meet you-you’re not only beautiful on the outside, but gracious and sweet as well!
I look forward to following your posts!
Sharon, it was lovely to meet you today. I really enjoyed the day – meeting others and sharing our home. I had planned on hiding out for the day but it was non stop talking and meeting people. I loved every minute. Thank you to the symphony for inviting me to participate. The pressure was on to get things done but the reward was seeing others appreciate the work we’ve done on our home and leaving inspired. I loved meeting your sister and nieces today as well. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to talk to anyone for very long since there were so many people in and out. I loved that everyone was so friendly and positive.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today too.
I hope you had a chance to get some rest and are feeling better soon. Have a Merry Christmas!
Hi Roeshe!!! i have discovered your blog by chance and i am in love of it!!! thanks for doing it!!!!

What is the color and brand of blue paint in your bath? Would you email me an answer? Thanks, Jane
Hi Jane! The paint color in the half bathroom is Benjamin Moore Smoke. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy New Year!
Hi! I love your ideas so great!! I have been looking for the perfect picture for my kitchen and i LOVE your cow picture!! Where did you ever find it??? HELP : )
Thanks so much, Angela! I think it may have been Antique Farmhouse but I know I’ve seen it other places too. Google “cow canvas” and it comes up there! Hope that helps!
I’m so glad you stopped by! Enjoy the week!
Hello Roeshel, I am a diy blogger and designer and I’ve linked up to your party a couple of times. I just signed up for your newsletter so I won’t miss your party in the future 😉 My favorite feature is the Arrow Wall in Gold. Just darling. I hope to slowly decorate my home as the kids are getting a bit older 😉 (I’m a stay at home mom of a 10 year old boy, 7 year old boy and 5 year old girl.)
Thank you for hosting!
Ursula @ http://kraftmint.com
Thanks, Ursula! It’s so nice to ‘e-meet’ you! Looking forward to getting to know you! xo
Roeshel I’ve been following your blog for years now and I just want to tell you I love it and thank you for all the inspiration I get from you. Well done on all your fabulous projects not only for starting them but for finishing them. That’s sometimes the hardest, for me anyway! The sun is actually shining here in Ireland so I may actually get an outdoor project done at last. One I’ve been putting off for an age now:-)
Thanks & have a fine day,
Marie
It’s so nice to e-meet you, Marie! Thanks for stopping by! xo

Hey there! I’m wanting to enter the Christmas Tree Contest, please let me know how!
Hi Malinda! I’m not hosting a Christmas tree contest this year. I should have though! Maybe next year! xo
