As I was updating my home tour page, I noticed that I didn’t have a link to our half bathroom makeover. Why? Because I shared it on my very first blog and not here. So, time to show you the before and after transformation. One of my first projects. It evolves a little here and there.
First, let’s take a look at the before picture. Keep in mind that previous owners foreclosed on this old farmhouse. It sat neglected and we lived with this room stripped completely for over a year (that nasty carpet and fixtures were gone)! Thank goodness for my ability to see potential, otherwise this alone would have had us running the other direction!
The powder room sits in a hallway between the kitchen and living room. It’s near what used to be a front door and by the look of things, this hallway was open to a window with a small coat closet originally.
It didn’t take much to get it functional again. Just a little DIY TLC, paint, tile, new faucet, new light and a new pedestal sink. Now, it’s pretty and functional and a 2nd bathroom option on our first floor.
See the hints of closet?
Water closet? I could have patched where the hinges were, but I really like that it’s history shows.
You can definitely tell that where the toilet sits used to be a closet.
But for now, this little space is functional and pretty.
We tiled the floor…good bye carpet! And a pedestal sink is the perfect option for a teeny tiny space.
The window gives the room a lot of light…(pardon the plastic – old house and it’s still March, after all).
The door and trim got a makeover too…
I added a built in shelf above the toilet…
Wall color is Benjamin Moore Smoke.
It really lightens up the space…
A little spring decorating:
So, what do you think? I’m just so happy that I don’t have to be embarrassed when guests ask to use the bathroom!

I REALLY like the after of your bathroom…a great change!! I’ve never understood the philosophy behind carpet in bathrooms? I like the change to tile, and your choice is GORGEOUS!!! Even though the toilet went into the closet…it provides “privacy”, so it looks great!
Thanks for hosting such a great party…I’m glad I had another project I could link up with you this week!
You did an amazing job and yes you have tons of vision! I am really loving the paint color and that floral wall art hanging above the toilet, any chance you can tell us where you purchased it?
Thanks, Kelly. Those are old (a year or two)…so not available but I got them at Joann’s.
Roeshel – Great job on the powder room! I love the paint color and the tile and kudos for being able to take good pictures of such a small space.
I am so in love with your bathroom re-do I can hardly stand it 🙂 I have pinned most of the pictures, absolutely beautiful! You have inspired me to finally tackle our first floor half bath. Also, thanks for hostessing the party. Hugs ~ Mary

Gorgeous re-do! It’s so bright & cheery.
That is a gorgeous bathroom! The details are so pretty! And thanks for hosting again!
Beautiful job on your bathroom. Thanks for hosting. Megan
what a darling space – I love the closet/potty 😉 do you think the wall color leans to blue or gray? I am trying to find the perfect gray for my kitchen – on a quest!
Thanks, Bev. No…it’s definitely very blue. :/
Our kitchen is True Value’s Easy Care in “Old Fashioned”
Our sitting room is Dutch Boy “ypsilanti skies”. Take a look at those. 🙂
It’s beautiful! I love the colours, so serene 🙂
Oh my, the bathroom is fabulous. What a huge transformation and you have decorated it so beautifully. Love it. Hugs, Marty
Love that chandelier! And the shelved mirror is so beautiful with the vintage bottles!

Roeshel, I would never have guessed that beautiful vignette in the first shot was on a toilet tank. lol This is a lovely makeover. The colors are so fresh. Thanks for hosting.
So, so pretty Roeshel!!! I love that gray!! Oh boy, I think my 1/2 bath might be getting repainted..again. Thank you for hosting!
Terrific turnaround with lovely decorative accents too!
Hi Roeshel, I love the bathroom, and the extras you put in it. Love that shelf above the commode, with white and rustic items. That spoke to me…hahaha…it just did. You did such a lovely job with a small area. It just looks perfect. And I love that light blue color. Or is it gray? It looks blue on my computer. anyhow…so pretty.
There is so much I like about this project; the color, the shelf above the toilet, those blue bottles, that it was once a closet. I could go on and on. Wonderful powder room.
Such a wonderful little powder room! Those moldings are just gorgeous. I would give anything to have one of those in this tiny little house of ours 🙂 Thanks for hosting, Roeshel!
Wow, that was some ugly before! Glad you weren’t scared away. The reno is so clean and fresh. The little shelf above the toilet is cute. I like the way you styled everything in the bathroom.
What a beautiful makeover! You do have a great eye for potential. Love the new blue blog look as well! Happy Sunday =)
You did a GREAT job. Love the decor. Where did you get the flower art on the wall behind the toilet? I think it is so pretty.
NanaAncy – they’re from Joann Fabrics but it has been at least a year. They’re a resin material with a sandy/gritty finish. I’m sure there’s a DIY project solution. 😉 I’ll have to think about it…maybe come up with a similar idea for another area of the house. 🙂
Your bathroom is amazing! What a transformation. I love the curtain, the floors and the jars! So pretty and fresh.
Holy Moly!!! I just found your blog and I am soooo in awe! You are now one of my favorites! You have fantastic ideas and gosh, we really do have similar tastes. There isn’t an idea you have that I do not love. I am new to blogging (writing my own) and want to dive in, but I am scaaarrrreeedddd. I hope to meet you at Haven, which I thought would be a great “jump off the bridge” to get me going. Fantastic blog!
Wow, I love your half bath make-over. The color is gorgeous and I love all the little details.
I love your powder bath! Turned our PERFECT!!! Thanks for hosting! XO, Aimee
Your bathroom is very charming and the glimpse of the chandalier looks lovely. You did great.
Your bathroom looks beautiful! Thanks so much for hosting!
Love the shelf under the mirror! What a great piece! I also really like the lacey frosted window… and the white flower art. Where is that from? Great makeover!
Ok now come over and do mine! It’s so pretty. My daughter’s 1st birthday party is coming up fast and we just don’t have the time or money (more so time) to make our half bath pretty. Now I’m inspired!
That little half bath underwent a beautiful transformation! I love the wall color and the tile on the floor especially. Thanks for hosting a great party every week.
Thank you so much for hosting! Absolutely LOVE your bathroom make-over…just my style! Also, I am new to link parties and need to know if it is enough to have your party button in my sidebar or do I need to have it in the actual post? Thanks so much!!
You have amazing taste! Such a great transformation!
Oh my goodness Roeshel it looks fantastic. I love the color and how clean and bright it is. Thank you so much for the party… wishing you an extraordinary week!
I love the chandelier! Great bathroom makeover-very soft and inviting. And thanks for hosting the linky party and good morning! I have a recipe for DIY Organic Eye Makeup Remover. It only takes two ingredients-super simple and cheap. I love it, as do my little sensitive eyes! Have a great week!
It’s absolutely beautiful! I can only dream of buying an old farmhouse and redoing it! Yours is fabulous!
