  • painted kitchen cabinets
  • painted stair risers
  • removed toilet and old vanity
  • removed old bathroom floor
  • put down hardibacker (tiling bathroom floor today…probably as you’re reading this)
  • Finished an accent wall
  • Installed open shelving in the kitchen
I often share sneak peeks on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I’d love for you to follow along!

Then moving day, furnishing and decorating. Our deadline is fast approaching! In fact, Mr. DIY is nearly ready to head to the apartment right now and I’m still not dressed. Better get moving! Have a wonderful week, friends! Thanks for stopping by to show off your projects!

DIY Project Parade and Highlights – Part 2

DIY Show Off

Hello, DIY friends! There are so many amazing links each week. I’m trying to figure out how to include the highlights (please bear with me). I think some weeks, a few different Highlight posts throughout the week will be a great idea to get your creativity and inspiration noticed even more! This week, the features are random but I think starting next week, I’ll categorize the highlights. Thanks for your patience!

See Highlights Part 1 and check out these awesome DIY projects you may have missed last week:

One area that is really neglected in our home this year is the porch. With a summer passing by as we renovate the apartment, I’m longing to relax on this beautiful southern porch over at Dixie Delights. Dreamy!

DIY Project Parade and Highlights Part 1

Hello, DIY friends! Today is the start of a new week of DIY project links. I’m so happy you’re here and can’t wait to see what you share.

This past week, we finished giving the apartment’s old laminate countertops a fresh new look using Rustoleum’s Countertop Transformations – a great way to rescue a stained/scratched countertop without removing it, measuring, cutting and installing new. Love the result!

DIY countertop and cabinets

I also shared a “how to make a bean bag toss scoreboard“. Bean bag toss is an outdoor game played by our family and who want’s to keep score in their head when there’s so much summer fun going on?

How to make a bean bag toss scoreboard

I always want to highlight all 200+ links. Seriously, you all are so amazing and I love seeing your creativity! Here are a few ideas and projects you may have missed last week. I will be including the DIY Project Parade linky party to a couple of posts this week. I’ve had a busy productive week and need more time to catch up!

DIY Highlights Part 1

Have you seen Anne’s {Design Dreams} gorgeous $5 door headboard? I love it! I swear. Between this beautiful idea and gorgeous upholstered headboards, I’m going to repurpose my sleigh bed into a boat so I can make a pretty headboard!

Oh wow! You know my love for painted floors, don’t you? Well did you see the gorgeous painted kitchen floor at Sugar and Spice? A beautiful painted and glazed diamond pattern…

Kathy from All About Vignettes is redoing her daughter’s bedroom and I’m in love with the subtle peacock theme and gallery wall. I can’t wait to see more!  peacock bedroom

Becky from Organizing Made Fun always has awesome storage and organization solutions. This past week she shared tips for getting your shed and potting bench organized. This would be heaven in our home where tools – home improvement and gardening are scattered in the barn, throughout the house, in the basement…you get the idea. I wonder if Becky does house calls?

potting bench organization

Yesterday, I revealed how neglected our own house can get when life gets busy and shared a picture of how I look when I’m stopping by to visit you – it’s not a pretty sight but it’s so easy to think everyone is all dressed up surrounded by a spotless perfect home and the truth is…life isn’t perfect and my dark circles are not glamorous. Real life.

This past week blogging was limited because I’ve been working on the apartment and the transformation is beginning to happen! So exciting!  That’s where I’ll be spending most of my time again this week. Again. {I could copy/paste those few sentences into my blog posts for the rest of the month! But this week I will be sharing the countertop and cabinet transformations. The pictures are piling up on my hard drive and can’t wait to share!

As always, last week’s party had so many awesome projects. I’d feature every one if I could but since I can’t, here are a few favorite highlights in case you missed them (see all links from last week here)

You may have seen this one. Okay, usually I’m ‘writing’ my blog posts on the old outdated loveseat in the living room, where I’m also reading blog posts. And I read books on my Nook in my bed before falling asleep. After visiting Shauna at Perfectly Imperfect it dawned on me {light bulb moment!} that I need a reading and writing room exactly like hers. Except in my house. Inspiring!

DIY Project Parade

The DIY Project Parade is a linky party for bloggers to show off their hard work and DIY and a place to share do-it-yourself creativity and inspiration.

I apologize for being a day late this week due to some technical difficulties. I was locked out of my dashboard the past couple of days. I was getting a ‘fatal’ error message and thought for sure I killed DIY Show Off, but my blog doctor rescued me and assured me all is well!

In the meantime, I’m heading out the door to work on the apartment and will follow up soon with highlights from last week in another post. DIY status on the apartment: Floors are sanded, walls, cupboards and appliances are scrubbed. Today I’ll be working on some patching and caulking in preparation for paint! Wish you were here. I sure could use some company! ;)

Happy Father’s Day to the dads! I did a little DIY project for my mom’s husband  that I’ll share soon. Most weekends in the summer, we head to mom’s pool and get together. There’s swimming, catching up with family, playing with nieces and nephews, a cook out, volley ball and usually a round of cornhole or two.  And it’s late Sat. as I’m typing this up and still working on the gift (a DIY cornhole score board). I may have procrastinated a little too much but a quick protective clear coat tomorrow morning and it’ll be all done. Project, pictures and tutorial coming soon. :)
I miss my dad every day, especially today. I find comfort knowing he is spending every day with Our Father.
and luckily God blessed me with more than one so I have two others to celebrate today as well.
This week I was happy to take a small break from big projects and create a DIY sign for a summer mantel

DIY Project Parade

I’m back! It’s that time of the week! Time to share your latest do-it-yourself projects!

DIY Show Off
Blog posts were put on hold for a few days. I’ve been really productive the past three days on making my sister’s rental home “pretty” for when she gets here from Florida. They’re on the road right now and will be here later today! Woo hoo! There’s only so much you can do with a cheap rental and teeny tiny budget but I did have the freedom to paint and managed to fit in a few rooms in three days with some decorating. I’ll feel like the hostess of a “not too extreme” home makeover show. “Move that bus!” :) It’ll be nice to have my sister back in town and to see my niece and nephew a lot more too.

Anyway, I’ve got so much to share but I’m so exhausted and sore, I can barely move and the pictures are still on my camera. Once I’m caught up, I can’t wait to show you.

Let’s see what you’ve been up to!

DIY Project Parade and Highlights

It’s weekly DIY party time and you’re invited! It’s the start of my favorite reason for blogging – when you can show off and I can see what you’ve been working on. Share your creativity in the DIY linky party and browse the other thumbnails for inspiration for your next DIY project.

I was only able to fit in a small craft project this week which I’ll be sharing with you soon but my sister, Patti, did find a house to rent! Woo hoo! She’ll be here for good in about one week! And since I know the owner of the rental house who’s familiar with my DIY and decorating passion, I have the freedom to help Patti make the rental “home”! I’m so excited and will be patching and painting walls a lot this week while she’s packing boxes and hopefully some room makeovers to share this summer.

This past week’s party links were amazing, friends! You are so clever, so creative and I don’t know where you find the time {have you noticed I didn’t even have time to blog the past two days? That’s NEVER happened!} but I’m so inspired by your awesome talent! Here are some highlights from last week:

I LOVE stripes and this gorgeous hall reveal from The Poor Sophisticate is a must see.

DIY Project Parade

I’m working on some things that I can’t wait to share this coming week. They’re small, but once I get the small stuff caught up, I’ll be ready to move forward onto bigger things. What? You want a hint? Well, okay then!

One of the project involved demolition of a headboard…

I have some yard sale finds to share, a barn patio project and a crafty little something.

I made a wrist corsage and took prom pictures for my special needs cousin, Katie. It’s become tradition. I make a wrist corsage that matches her dress and snap some yearly photos.

I practiced photography and took some senior pictures and created graduation party invitations for a family friend…{the balloons are to protect her identity online}

And we’ve been cleaning up some of this…

{thank you, Butch!}

I told you – a little bit of everything and busy! {My sister also found a house to rent locally so there will be so many more budget friendly DIY projects and room makeovers squeezed in between our own projects. FUN!}

Let’s see what you’ve accomplished recently!

DIY inspiration from the Project Parade

These links in the DIY Project Parade are inspiration to me personally this week. I’m so thankful to all of the talented blog friends who take the time to link up and show off…it’s just the motivation I need for a few things I have going on with helping my sister decorate her new home next month.

Carmel at Our Fifth House shared her DIY pegboard headboard and I’ve been looking for budget friendly DIY ideas to surprise my nephew. Isn’t this awesome? I love all of the DIY details in this room. And I need to make that bed frame too! Great job, Carmel!

My teenage niece is going to want a glam bedroom and I see a pretty DIY chandelier makeover in my near future like this beautiful one shared by Ada’s Interior Design

We’re going to need some fabric and Dear Emmeline has reminded me that repurposing vintage curtains {sheets too} is a beautiful, affordable option with yard sale season in full swing…

My sister has an old dining room table and a thrift store eat-in kitchen table and we can’t wait to give them a ‘makeover’. The table makeover from Art is Beauty is bookmarked in our idea folder…

As soon as my sister goes back to FL to pack up the last of her things, I’m sneaking over to redo her master bedroom. I’d love to surprise her with a beautiful romantic master bedroom. Have you seen the master bedroom reveal at Raising Up Rubies? Breathtaking!
