Dressing Room Reveal

I had been wanting to give the upstairs guest bedroom some dressing room touches for a while now. We have another guest room on the main floor with it’s own guest bathroom AND we rarely have overnight guests (4 nights in nearly 5 years). I still want it to function as a guest room – it has the most comfy bed and when the girls come over and raid my closet (we share clothes and shoes)…it’s a fun place to hang out and talk style and fashion. Ready to decorate your home but short on cash? Apartment Guide can help you find inexpensive decorating ideas for how to update an area of your home without spending a lot of money.

My dressing room sits catty-corner across the hall from the master bedroom, but it’s not a big inconvenience and I love having a ‘girly’ space!  Let’s head in…

I hope you don’t mind around 40 pictures…there’s so much to see! 🙂

DIY Project Parade and a Canvas and Burlap Banner tutorial

I’ve been working hard on a project this past week in hopes of sharing it today. However, it’s not quite yet done so stay tuned {hopefully} Monday to see my guest room double as my dressing room along with a fun giveaway!  {EDIT: Dressing Room/Closet Organization post here:} If I survive, that is.  I must be using muscles I don’t normally use to drill into the studs and to screw into to studs and I am out of shape sore!

So, today I’m sharing the banner I made a few weeks ago and posted at the DIY Club. A banner for our dining room mantel – Time to pray, eat & love…

Ikea LATT table/chairs hack: Enjoyer of Grace

Weiya is the blog author at Enjoyer of Grace. She’s also enjoys DIY-ing on a budget.  Her little guy needed a table just his size. She chose the Ikea LATT table which she found in the clearance section for just $15!  Since it was originally used as the floor display, it wasn’t in the best condition.  The wood was chipped in many areas and the table top had a few scratches.  However, it was still sturdy and had no major defects.

My transition to WordPress

For a long time, I resisted making the transition from Blogger to WordPress. Then when I started having issues with Blogger, I made up my mind to do it. However, as you know, I’m technically challenged. Sure, I’ve been blogging for 4+ years, but that doesn’t mean I’m confident with my limited html skills. With the help of Brent, all of my posts were transferred. Nothing was lost.  Relief!  Well, except that I was lost.  Now what?

DIY Project Parade and a Stairwell Landing Makeover using what we have.

Inspired by Shoshana earlier this week, I decided to do an accent wall at the top of our stairs. My decision was that quick and crazy. I bought NOTHING for this makeover. Leftover paint, supplies, and decorative accessories we already had on hand (+ the felted reindeer head, rug and clock I got for Christmas). Before was boring. {Check out that brass and faux-oak light – niiiiiiiice, huh? Good-bye!}

After recently popping over to the Lettered Cottage and reading about Layla’s inspiring word of the year resolution {I’ve seen several other of my favorite blog friends joining in too and it’s so motivational}, I started thinking about what my word for the year would be. It required a little more thought that I anticipated. I kept thinking of phrases instead of words. But after much pondering and  making a mental list of the things that mean the most to me, things I plan to do and goals I’ve set, I kept hearing the same word pop up: “keep”.

DIY Project Parade ~ Dining Room, Faux Fireplace Fix and Banner

It’s been a busy week but I managed something small. We found this old fireplace mantel/surround in the barn when we moved in. I love that it’s original to the house and new I wanted to add it to a wall in our dining room.  I love the flexibility of moving things around, so I boxed it in so it is ‘freestanding’ and not attached permanently to the wall.

$100 gift certificate to Empire Covers Giveaway

You’ve seen pictures of our uncovered patio in the summer. But, yea for the purpose of this post and because it makes me happen to see it when it’s not covered in leaves and surrounded by brown grass and bare trees…

Oh, how I love summer! But what do we do in the winter or when it’s raining/not in use?  I store the cushions in plastic deck storage chests. But as you can see from this picture:

our patio furniture braves the winter elements, cold and naked and although cushions get protection, actual furniture does not. Patio furniture covers are a great solution for extending the life of patio furniture and keeping it warm. It’s the patio-friendly thing to do.

I’d love nice quality covers to help prolong wear and tear like these patio furniture covers:

And now, Empire Covers is offering one lucky DIY Show Off winner $100 gift credit towards covering their naked patio furniture! How sweet is that?

My favorite is the Metro Brown Stripe… . Protective and decorative!
